If you are runny windows 7, this will most likely not work due to compatibility issues. If you are running XP this problem will not occur. The only solution to use this drive would be downgrade to a different operating system or a different computer. If this is not an option. Get a new drive.

You can only burn DVD's with a dvd-rw.
A CD-RW DVD will only play a dvd and write CD's

In regards to adding the DVD-R tab to your burning options alot of this has to do with the burning software that you are using.

So I would like to know what program you are using and if it came with your DVD burner. Also I would like to know if you ever had the DVD-R option before.

right click on the drive then properties then hardware then enable the writing. if the problem still occurs then reinstall the burner eg nero.

Could you please advise what software you are using to burn the cd? I can help further with this info.

Am I assuming that the drive reads CD's corrrectly, just wont burn them?

your TS-H492A/RSWN can write dvd at a speed of 52x and write to cd with a speed of 32x. for you to be able to write to a dvd you will need a dvd writer software

could be your player is very choosy with the kind of brand you are using. try using other dvd recordable disk brand. to burn a dvd you will be needing a special writing software for dvd. you cannot use a dvd if you just want to burn a cd. you should only use a recordable cd.
