Our Panasonic PV-GS83 will not power up at all. We have recharged the battery. Nothing happens when the power "On" switch is activated.

This is usually caused by a failed component in the power circuit within the camera and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Will not turn on

Ok, these units have a bad problem, with the Power Supply, inside, Sometimes it is mimicked by a bad battery, the only way to check, first is to replace it, If this doesn't fix it then, it must be taken in for repair. There are NO user serviceable parts inside. A delicate instrument, such as this MUST be serviced at a Panasonic recommended Service Agent. Please get the camera looked at, and ask for a "Quote" before any repair is undertaken. This way at the least, you can get an idea, as to repair or replace. often these days, at least in mys repair shop, things can cost as much to repair as a new one with a warranty.

How to transfer PV-L780D panasonic camcorder video to PC.

For your SD card, you have to use the USB port to mini-USB port cable that came with the camera, or a card reader. Connect it to the computer, and turn the camera on. Windows XP and Windows 7 will detect it as a hard drive, and give you the options for transferring the pictures to your pc. You also have a firewall cable that you can use with the software that came with the camera. In case you need more information, you can download the manual that will tell you how here:

I have a Panasonic PV GS83. What style firewire cable do I need to convert to digital?

there is only one kind of firewire cable available.
go to an electronics store and ask for a firewire cable (ieee 1394)
you also need a firewire port on your pc/laptop. if you don' t have one then you should buy a firewire pci card

Make sure you have no programs running in the background when your rendering. Make sure your hard drive is defragged. That makes a big difference.
