I have a problem after scanning, I cannot bring the document up in MS Word to edit. The document arrives on my computer screen but I can not edit it

You need OCR software installed in your PC

go to www.hp.com then type OCR application then download it in your pc

OCR Application File name: s.gif 23902_hpcom_OCR_120_003.exe [1/1, 54.84M]

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericSoftwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&softwareitem=oj-72836-2&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
Text Cannot Be Edited After It Is Scanned to a Word Processing Program
Issue After scanning into a word-processing program, the text in the original is not editable. Workaround The process of changing text from an image to editable text is called optical character recognition (OCR). Text should automatically be converted in the OCR process when the Send To destination is a word-processing program. If it does not, check the items in the following list:
  • Select Editable Text as the image type in Scan Settings . In Windows XP, this setting is automatically selected if Scan Document is selected in the Director program.
  • Scan at a resolution of at least 300 dots per inch (dpi) for correct OCR conversion. Check the default resolutions in the Scan Settings on the Resolution tab.
  • If portions of the scan are cut off, turn off the Auto Crop feature in the Scan Settings on the Scanning tab by clicking to clear the check mark.
  • Tables, text boxes, and spreadsheets might not be editable. The border around them makes the OCR program read them as images. Readiris OCR, which is included with the HP Officejet G and K series, can recognize these images. Instead of selecting the word-processing program in the Send To list, send the scan to Readiris. Use the Table Drawing tool on the right side of the window to change the type of image to a table, and then use the OCR. The text inside of the box should now be editable.
NOTE: Handwritten messages might not be captured by the OCR process.

HP laserjet 5200 printer taking too much time to print a page..

HP 5200 prints 35 pages/minute, however, system configuration and software reduces print speed. So, If there are no changes in those parameters, you're document is too complex to print quickly.

Try to send a test or a text page to calculate the difference.

Also bare in mind that first page takes longer to print due to printer heat-up procedure.

Prints PDF documents VERY slowly (4-5) per page

The actual issue you will find that its not so much the actual printing part of the process that is slow, its actually the spooling to the printer that takes the time.
Does your printer support PostScript printing ? (PostScript is a printing & imaging standard used by many printers) To find out if your printer does indeed support this either refer to your manufacturers documentation or perform a test page and look to see if you have a PostScript enabled option.
If your printer does support PostScript, make sure you are using its PostScript printer driver, most of the time we generally use PCL drivers, so simply change this.

Regards....
If you find your printer does not support PostScript there are a few other tweaks we can implement to increase printing speed.

Firstly we can force PDF files to be printed as graphics as opposed to text, to do this launch your chosen PDF viewer, select Print > Advanced > Print as image
Lower the print resolution, if we lower the print resolution most of the time the difference is very small, but it can reduce the actual print size of the document by up to 300%, which can greatly decrease printing times.
Make sure you are using the latest version of any print drivers or your chosen PDF printing program, normally Adobe Acrobat.
If the printer only has a small amount of memory if possible add more, if possible install a PostScript SIMM.
Check the amount of ram your computer currently has, check memory usage from task manager when printing to ascertain usage

LaserJet 5Si printing slow use to be able to hit the print key then the printer would fire away. seems like the printer pauses between pages then prints maybe 3 to 4 pages per minute

Could be software. I have seen the last several Adobe latest version documents take several seconds to print. I have also seen increased print times with MS office 2003 Powerpoint documents. If it is a single page MS Word or Excel document and u are printing several copies of it, you should turn off the collate feature for printing of that document

I have got a DCP-110C printer, how do I scan a document onto the computer then alter the text within this document?

Try this procedure and let me know how it goes

  1. Scan the page you want to convert into a Microsoft Word document.
  2. Save the scanned image in *.gif, *.jpeg or whatever format.
  3. Open that image, go to "File->Save As" and name it "xyz.tiff" in the "TIFF" format as shown.
  4. Go to "Start->Programs->Microsoft Office Tools->Microsoft Office Document Imaging"
  5. Go to "File->Open" and open your scanned document that has been saved in *.TIFF format.
  6. Go to "Tools->Send Text to Word." You will get a prompt stating this process will take time, Click OK. This will take some time depending on your computer's speed (a minute or two at the most).
  7. When it's done it will open up Microsoft word on its own and the scanned document will now be in editable mode.

HP Deskjet 5150 print is too small

Printers try to fit web pages on a single sheet of paper. If you configure the printer, in the print dialog, not to shrink images and text to fit the paper, it will print on multiple sheets of paper, but the correct size for the images and text.

In a Word document, it depends on what font size you have selected. Most people would rather have the web page print on a single sheet, with smaller images and text than were on the monitor; than tape together multiple sheets for 100% size printout.

Scanning multiple pages as a single document

The pages you scan in are each individual "pictures" which are very different than the text in the everyday word processing file. What you can do is to make a new word processing document and insert each of the scanned pictures into this new document in order. This will allow you to print all the pages in one job by printing the word processing document. As far as I know there is no way to scan all of the pages into one single file.

Very, very slow printing

I don't know the make/model of the printer, but I can mention a few possibilities.

1) If your printer is set for PostScript (PS) language, versus PCL , it normally takes longer to print.

2) If this printer is fairly new, check for old Printers installed that are no longer connected to the computer/network. See if there are still print jobs in the queues. A missing printer with jobs still in queue will keep polling the system and eating up processing time.

3) If this printer is a laser printer, it may have to wake-up and warm-up before printing.
