Hello rdberg,

See this post Clutch Fix it has helped a few owners with the dC and uC unbalance errors with the FAV6800A and FAV9800A machines. You have a very common problem with a Clutch malfunction. The first part of the post has to do with the nuts and bolts of disassembly and Clutch maintenance or replacement of the Clutch Pulley.

In the last part of the post I go into just how to check the One-Way Rollers clutches to verify that are locking up. If they don’t this results in tumbler movement on Wash Basket spin up and the unbalance errors. If you are handy and have some basic hand tools you can get your machine back in service at low cost.

Post back if you have questions…..Rich

Don't know the cause but I have same problem and found that if i turn the machine off when the code pops up (should be with about 12 minutes left in cycle) and then push spin and start it will finish rinsing the clothes and spinning them out - been doing this for months just fine

Have Neptune FAV6800AWW top load, washes when it gets to the rinse cycle it stops with water in. If we remove the clothes and wait a while we can get it to complete. The code we are getting is DR which...

Are you sure the error code is DR? Could it be DC an unbalance error code. Google ""16022808.pdf"" to find. Is the washer banging around in Spin Cycle? If so this is a Clutch Pulley issue.

Google this ""Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW"" a forum where I help owners of the FAV6800A and FAV9800A machines.

DR is not a listed error code in the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual.

Maytag neptune FAV6800AWW top load washer gets to 32 minutes left and goes no further. It starts to cycle for about 5 seconds and stops for about 35 seconds... over and over and over

Is the machine in Spin Cycle when this is happening? What part of the washer selected cycle does the Cycle Status LED say the machine cycle is in.
If it’s in the Spin Cycle I think you have a clutch issue. Do you take any error codes to the LED console display such as dC or uC?
If you stop the machine in that cycle and do a Spin Only cycle will it complete?
Do you want to DIY the fix? Let me know and I will try to help…..Rich

The wash time continues to increase on every cycle. I have a Maytag Neptune TL Washer.

Thank you my machine model number. The reason I ask is so many folks post non FAV6800A/FAV9800A issues in this forum. This forum doesn’t ask for machine model number and serial number. Here we go.

Does your machine seem to take longer than normal to fill with water?

Does the machine increase the time during the Spin Cycle of the Wash Cycle?

Are there any error codes to the LED display such as dC or uC?

Do you want to work toward a DIY fix? If not maybe we can get a solid feel for the issue that will help you in the decision process to bring in a repair company or replace.

So I can better understand the issue can you start a Quick Wash cycle with Soil and Spin settings set to lowest setting and if you could place a couple of bath towels in the wash basket for a load.

I want to see if the machine will go thru the Wash, Rinse and Spin cycle within the 27 to 29 min time of a Quick Wash cycle. I want to see if the machine is increasing Washer Cycle time in the Spin Cycle of the Wash Cycle.

You should enter the Rinse Cycle at the 20 min mark on the LED display.

You should enter the Spin Cycle at the 10 min mark on the LED display.

Watch the cycle and see if you have similar times as I do. Let me know if the washer has any off balance issues as it enters into the Spin Cycle…..Rich

Is the machine a FAV6800A or FAV9800A?

Maytag Neptune top load Model FAV6800AWW DC code in spin cycle

Hello gregjbar, here is a URL for the SM for th FAV6800 look in the posting for the link to the manual.

http://www.fixya.com/support/t495521-fav6800_manual

Here is my fix, follow the manual to test the OOB sensor, if that is OK then the clutch may be the issue, this is how I resolved my issue dc/UC codes in spin cycle...

Turning lemons into Lemonade :)

I just did a repair on my FAV6800AAW by lubricating the needle bearings in the clutch pulley hub, the tub displacement sensor checked OK per the service manual check. I was getting dc/uc errors in the spin cycle, washer was purchased in 7/05. I have basic mechanical skills and used a socket wrench to remove clutch pulley, just follow the service manual removal steps to remove the clutch pulley. Pull the plastic cover off the clutch pulley and inspect the spring, clean/lube needle bearings and the clutch hub coupler that drives spinner shaft. I used WD40 I may need to re-lube down the road with a good light grease. It took a few tries for me to get the clutch pulley to stay on after re-install and power up, getting the clutch pulley seated properly is the trick. I did not remove the washer tub for this fix, I believe I saw a posting where someone did. I just leaned the washer back to get a better reach angle, it is a tight work area. I did not want to junk 4 yr old $1k machine with out trying a fix. If you want to work on this model get the service manual, I found a link on this site, good luck""

Receive code "dc"...water will not drain and tub will not spin properly

If you want to work on this model get the service manual, I found it online and I believe you can order it in PDF format from Maytag. Good luck!

I just went thru my 10th load of a mix of light, medium and heavy loads and all work fine no unbalance errors (DC/UC). Doesn’t fix the tangle problem :) Prior to this fix I could only run the washer with no clothes in it to complete a cycle with no dc/uc error codes.
