You've got some sort of safety lockout. There will be a switch or sensor somewhere that's not working properly. Make sure you stop the machine and chock it before you work on it or it will come down and crush your head.

The memory IC to this device has been damaged. Replace it with same type and number. The component can be located close to its main system control IC, will look somewhat like this.

Make sure you have the latest version of windows media player. If its not that then do a system reset.
Press the Power and Play (>||) button together for 20 seconds to reset the unit!

Call Gateway @1-800-gateway. They will tell you to unplug the monitor, plug it back in while holding the power button. A screen will apear giving you a code number. The gateway rep. asks for the code number and then gives you a code number to unlock your screen.
