Fan Ok, no ice on coil after defrost defrost timer ok. settings on middle of range after 3 weeks ice blocks lower air passage and freezer gets -25 and fridge gets warm. I melt ice and it works fine again nothing blocking air vents. top vent clear

Don't know the make and model of your fridge, but most fridges have only one evap coil located in the freezer. The fridgerator compartment is cooled by a fan to blow air from the coil back into the fridgerator section. Check that the fan is working and the vents in the fridgerator are not blocked. Often the problem might be that the defrost circuit is not functioning causing ice to build up on the evap coil thus block the air flow to the fridge. If you seen any ice build up in freezer or refrigerator that could be the problem. If that is the case, then you need to have the defrost circuit troubleshot, typical failures are the heater itself or the defrost timer if you have an older model. Hope this helps you.

warm between doors is normal. if hot then clean coils and if coils clean make sure condenser fan motor working thats the fan in the back compartment, however if warm thats good. did the evaporator coil freeze from top to btm is that why u replaced heater. if it was then could be heater,if the coil is only getting frost on half the coil,you could have a sealed system problem. is the evaporator motor working in the frz side if not,then that could be the problem.if coil is froze up it needs to be defrosted. did you defrost coil when you replaced heater,if not try defrosting coils and then wait about 12 hrs and see how it does.

Hi,advance thermostat setting, to get colder , it's possible you got defrost problem, is there excessive ice building inside back of freezer? to determine if you have a defrost problem, unplug ref. for about an hour,let it defrost, let all ice melt away, it's better to remove your produce, keep doors open to speed up defrosting, after defrosting and cleaning plug back your ref, and let it work for another hour, and check result, if it's o/k, put back your produce, let me know, during hot summer months, regular use (opening) of ref, could cause excessive ice build-up evap. if after defrosting and cleaning ref. work good for 3 to 4 days, but start doing the same thing, let me know, it means you got a defrost problem. also check your thermostat, but first defrost and clean it, that could just be your problem. good luck.

From your comment. It's not that you have to defrost the parts, that's what they're called. "defrost timer", "defrost t-stat" and "heat element". Defrosting the whole fridge for a few days actually will clear the ice blockage if that's it but it will return in a couple weeks if the "defrost cycle" isn't doing its thing. A fridge typically goes into some form of "defrost cycle" to keep it "frost free". As an example, every 12 hours the compressor turns off and the evap. fan turns off then a heat element turns on to melt the light coating of ice on the "cooling coils". Once about 1/2 hour goes by the heating turns off and the cooling turns back on again. This repeats over and over to keep the ice from building up too much. If that cycle is broken, the ice will build and build till the whole coil is a block of ice. Then the air can't flow around it to provide cold air for the whole unit. It acts basically like putting a large block of ice in the freezer and keeping the doors closed... without a fan to move the cold air only the very lower portion of the freezer is cold, the rest is warm.
