1. Extract the .bin file from the zip file downloaded from this site.
2. Burn the *.bin file to the root directory of a blank CD. Make sure the CD burner is set to
finalize the CD.
3. To select Disc upgrade, press the menu button on the remote. Select Settings\Advanced
Setup\Others\Software Upgrade\Disc upgrade.
4. Use the cursor up/down button to select "Yes", and then press OK. The Disc tray will open
automatically.
5. Insert the Disc. Close the Disc tray.
6. After the disc has loaded, a confirmation message will appear. Select "Yes" and press OK to
start uploading.
7. After the disc update is finished, the unit will shutoff and eject the disc. Do not unplug or
turn the unit off while the software upgrade is in progress.

SW Version Problem resolved
1.005 - The Dolby Pro Logic feature does not function when
Dolby digital two channel audio is the source using
SPDIF (Digital Audio In) input.
1.006 - Unit shuts off after 30 minutes. Do not use the
Network upgrade to this fix this problem.

Most philips units can be easily converted (sometimes so easy you just dont want to know)

What you are going to search for is "philips region free hack" or "hts 660 region free hack"

I am unsure of FIXYA policy for providing the information directly so I gave you the words I would use to find what you want

If you are given an ISO file to download then tjis must be burned to a cd first

I agree that the region thing should be banned and customers should have the choice

Press "Door Open"
- after the door opens perform the following sequence with the remote control:

Press STOP-7-3-4-4-6-6

a Region settings page will be displayed showing the current region on the TV (usually the default is region 1), using the remote control select the region number by pressing the number on the remote (select region 0 for region free) and press OK.

Sorry - every Philips model has a region it was marketed for, and dvd's from other regions will not work without an illegal hack (if one exists).
