Hey mate, very common in all makes of plasma TV's. See this how to video on to fix it, the video is for a hyundia but it is the same for your TV. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NPobj0_GSo
It's pretty easy, just get a soldering iron and take your time, best of luck. Bro
Hi James, This could be one of two problems. I can't narrow it down any further without having the set in front of me. 1. The plasma panel or the componets which supply electricity to the plasma in the panel have packed up. 2. The video processing unit in the set has gone. As for the cost of repair, if it's the panel, buy a new TV. It'll be cheaper. If it's the component that supplies the electricity to the plasma on the panel or the video processing unit, expect to pay between 300-400 as a conservative estimate for parts. Labour would be another 100-200.
Our 42" LG picture is also split down the middle. It doesn't matter if it is cable or a DVD. I would love to know if anyone has found out the solution to this prob. The TV is only 3 years old...
The diffusion is slightly out of adjusment. This timing adjustment is difficult and on a single scan LG plasma the proper operation requires voltage settings first, then a scope to finalize the adjustment. I have good luck with this alignment by eye but have had alot of practice. This will require taking the back off and a person with the technical background to set this alignment properly. Sorry no easy fix.
