Is there a wireless hardswitch somewhere on HP Compaq 8510p

Is there a wireless hard switch somewhere that enables wireless on my HP 8510p laptop. I installed the drivers, enabled LAN/WAN switching in the Bios, checked device manager and even services but the wireless assistance pop-up still says its disabled. Any ideas?

Hard

  1. Open the cover that is over your HDD
  2. Remove the Hard Drive from it's casing
  3. Now replace the HDD ensure everything is connected properly
  4. If possible, power up and listen for the HDD to spin, if it's making no noise or a very noticeable clicking noise it's time to purchase a new HDD
  5. If not power on anyway and see if you get the same error.
  6. Try a spare HDD instead, this would indicate if the HDD you have now has failed also
Let me know how you get on

Power-on password on hp 8510p

Power On Password & Hard Disk Password
With your next laptop you should protect it with a Power On Password AND put a password on your hard disk. This will stop anyone from using your laptop and if they move the hard disk from your laptop to another laptop they cannot access the data on your hard disk with the hard disk password.
BUT you need to write down or remember these passwords; if you lose or forget them you cannot gain access to your laptop.
There are no backdoor passwords to remove these passwords.
To set up or change these passwords, go to the BIOS configuration - then security configuration. http://techtips.salon.com/reset-hp-laptop-bios-password-1476.html

Can I install the hard drive of my old hp 8510p in my hp presario cq 42? will it run the old windows vista? My new hp presario cq 42 is running the new windows 7?

If the hard drive is compatible with your presario cq 41 then it will work. The operating system does not matter if you're switching hard drives.

If you want to update the operating system on the old hard drive, you will need to have the software for Windows 7.

I have a hp Compaq nx6110 laptop. I wish to switch the wireless feature on but the wireless button does not seem to activate it

Sometimes if you disable the wireless from HP wireless assistance then it will not get enable even if you try to start it from the switch. So first check that the wireless is on from HP wireless assistance. This kind of issue come most of the time when drivers are corrupted or not installed correctly. Please perform the below steps to get the issue resolved. I don?t know the exact OS installed on your laptop, however you can check the link below and click on the appropriate OS and you will get the latest BIOS update and drivers available for your laptop. But perform the below steps first in order. ø Check - wlan autoconfig is enabled under services list (run>services.msc) ø Enable HP wireless assistant. ø Check - wireless card is installed in Device Manager. ø Check whether the computer is able to detect the wireless networks in range to ensure wireless LED is not defective. ø Update wireless driver and BIOS. ø Reseat wireless card Link for updating the drivers and BIOS. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=449878&taskId=135&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=449877&lang=en&cc=us Plz write back with current OS ,if you get any problem in doing above steps.
