I am assuming that the manufature is Master Temp by Pentair. Is this correct? If so, the manual for it can be found here:

This is an ignition flame falure code. Could be you don't have gas getting to the pilot, no spark to ignite the pilot or your ignition is not reading the flame. Sorry to say but it's probally time to get the pool guy out to look at it. Good luck.

Error code E05 can be caused by many failures in several places. The owner's manual has a decent flow chart in it to help diagnose where the trouble lies. You will find it on page 43 here...

Heater shuts down after 30 sec. get e05 error code replaced the SFS have same problem .

I had same issue yesterday in the field. The sensor was bad in my case. After replacement of the Stack flu sensor my stack temp was only reading 80 degrees, a clear indication that the board needed to be replaced as well.
Replaced board and the heater fired fine and the stack temp reading was normal, 300 degrees.
To obtain a stack temp, after the heater fires hold down the pool or spa button until the temp appears in the display. It will time out after 10-15 seconds.

E05 code

e05 error code means shorted stack flu switch or sensor. oder heaters have the switch, newer heaters have the sensor. make sure you know which one you have before ordering a replacement.

Master temp 400 with E05 error message, already replaced stack flue sensor, thermistor, and igniter. Any suggestions?

I have the same exact problem with this unit. Obviously getting gas to the unit, because it runs and pumps out some serious heat for a short time, but then kicks off. Did anyone ever figure this out or did you buy a new heater? :-)

Pentair minimax e05

Try changing the "stack flu sensor". It could be the sensor is bad or the sensor could be detecting a bigger problem. The sensor can not be jumped out.

Tonight my master temp 250 heated the spa to 80 degrees. I went out to jump in and saw error code E05. I shut it down and killed power for a little while. Restarted system, blower kicked on, burner light...

You are right about the ignitor. Depending on how old your heater is. The ignitor can become weak and flame rectification will be intermittent. You may have to replace the ignitor assembly or at lease check to see that it's not corroded enough to impede gas flow.
