Just had the bike serviced by Triumph. It ran for about 30 miles and stopped. Left it in the shed for 3 month (bad weather) Would not start. took the air filter out charged the battery and it started. Repaeted this a few times, all OK Put the filter back (clean). Started it all OK. Repeated this a few times, then when the fan kicked in the bike stopped, this happened 3 - 4 times. Then the bike would not start. Recharged the battery, all OK, repeated the start up 6 - 8 times all OK , then when fan kicked in stop. Recharge the battery, all OK. New battery, fully charged all OK. THen last week after 2 weeks of being OK it would not start, charged the battery still no joy. Will not even spit or fart. Any advice?
Even though a ground strap, from battery ground to engine, looks in ok condition, can they go bad and break down ? ..it is enclosed in plastic and approx. 1 foot long ..i was having a few problems with the bike and cleaned each end terminal and all seemed fine after that but now its back to how it was before ..is it worth renewing it or is it time to look elsewhere on the bike ? I think I would change the petrol in the tank as it may have become a bit stale. Also I would replace the battery.Make certain the replacement battery in fully charged before you try again.

sounds like a fuel issue, how long has the bike been sitting? You said it is worse in certain weather conditions, so i don't think electrical would act up in different weather conditions. I am not sure if your bike has carbs or fuel injection. If it has carbs, you most likely have dirty pilot jets.
Check the power in the battery. It may seem charged up but in fact the battery could be no good. Get it checked out at a store that sells batteries. They should do it free.
DRAIN CARBS FROM PETCOCK AT BOTTOM OF EACH CARB MAKE SURE FUEL DRAINS COMPLETELY THEN TURN FUEL BACK ON, IF THIS IS AN INJECTED MODEL DRAIN TANK AND FLUSH THEN RUN IT HARD FOR 20 MILES OR SO, MAKE SURE YOUR OIL LEVEL IS OK
If the bike has sat for a long period of time without being run - the gas that is sitting in the carb(s) will shellac.. Then the carb(s) would need to be cleaned and "rebuilt"..
When there is no charging system operational, the bike will run wih battery in total loss mode. When it gets to a certain point of discharge, the first indication is indeed as you saw, the intruments go blank. There is little power left at this point and need to get home asap!
Either the R/R (rectifier/regulator) and/or the stator is bad - both are unfortunately quite common failures on these bikes.
You can find a diagnosis guide that I personally authored at this site: http://www.triumphrat.net/speed-triple-forum/104504-charging-system-diagnostics-rectifier-regulator-upgrade.html
Follow those guidelines and you will be able to determine which or both is failed. Also is a recommendation for a retrofit/upgrade to a better component if you do need to replace the R/R.
Do check if not drain and refill the gear box, but check with your dealer that it will not affect your warranty. a little self help may prevent time consuming and inconvenient repairs at this stage, but remember gears are clunky and come in for a lot of abuse, reliable as they are.
The only times my 'dent had no acceleration, it wasn't firing on all 3. Easy check: start the bike, let it idle for a couple minutes, spray water from a spray bottle on each header. Chances are, there'll be a cold header from a cylinder not firing due to a bad coil.
