The bulb is positioned at the top of the oven, accessible only from the outside. You'll need to pull off the top and bottom trim strips, remove the bottom trim strip locators, remove 2 fixing screws from the left edge of the oven (with door open), and the 2 fixing screws from behind the top trim strip. The oven should then just slide out. You only need to pull it out 6 inches or so to gain access to the bulb cover. You'll need a T20 driver to remove the cover, then the bulb unscrews as it has an SES fitting. Bob

That looks very helpful and doable - thank you. Our bulb has just failed and to save pulling the oven out twice could you just add a note as to which replacement bulb we need. Many thanks. John

    Sorry, I should have said.......the bulb is a 40w E14 oven/microwave bulb SES fitting. I bought a pack of 10 off ebay for £8.99.
    Hope this helps.
    Bob.

Hi, I have a quick question, should it be the round type (which most are on ebay) or a oval/mini sasuage (sorry the best desctiption I could think of) type.

p.s. Thanks for the info on where the bulb is and how to get to it.

  • Bob Farthing Feb 17, 2011

The bulbs are the more common round "golf" bulbs.

Got the same problem. Thanks for the info. Can you just clarify how I remove the top and bottom trim strips? I don't want to break them and unfortunately the oven is built in above the fridge and below a wooden worktop so very difficult to see what's going on 'behind the scenes'.

The trim strips just pull straight off very easily. Put a finger on each end (left and right), and just pull it towards you. It's held on by a spring clip at each end.

Hi getting an error 4 on a Neff oven/microwave. any ideas out there

make this and fix it. God bless you

A power surge or random non-reproducible action of the universe may have resulted in the controller's program ending up in an infinite loop. Pull the plug for a minute or two to reset it.

I can not find a model number on my microwave but I know it is 800 watts/convection. Can you please tell me how to change the light bulb - I have removed the glass covering but cannot see how to access...

I would browse the manufacturers web site until you find your mode.
The bulbs are normally accessed from either an inspection cover in close proximity to the lamp or by removing the outer cover.
Hope that helps

Changing the light bulb

If there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (and the owner's manual doesn't address it) some disassembly may be required.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there. There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), instead.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover. If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

Once it's out of the wall, the outer cover (wrapper) will need to be removed, just as you'll need to do on a counter top model.

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, and a special driver (such as a T20H Torx type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that\'s usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that\'s usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

Lamp broken

Manufacturers used to include access panels in the rear or side so you could easily change the bulb. That exposed the customer to line level (mains) voltage, and that posed a real liability threat, so they stopped using them.

You now must generally remove the outer cover to replace the bulb.

In many over-the-range models, that can mean having to take the oven down from the wall! For safety's sake, that should be a two-person job and it's really helpful if you have your original installation instructions to do this.

Many models use one halogen lamp to illuminate the cooktop and another to illuminate the cavity. You must not touch them with your bare skin as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

You should be able to find replacements lamps by taking the old one to a local home improvemeant center or department store or an applaince parts store.

Power Problems on NEFF H7871 Combi Microwave

It would seem there is a bad connection in the fuse holder or in the wall socket or in the microwave itself. Maybe you can narrow it down to the microwave by trying other devices in the wall socket. If it's the microwave, it's time to call for serivce.
