Had the ink absorber problem on my S820. Tried to fix it by not actually cleaning the absorber, just going through the reset procedure (I guess this may have been a bad idea?). Now, when I turn the printer on it makes all the moving around noise and then turns itself off. I can't go into service mode as it just makes the noises and turns off when I release the power button at the end of the sequence. Any ideas how I can get out of this one???
Cheers,
Steve
Hi ok
Turn off the printer.
Press and hold the RESUME button, then press and hold the POWER button.
While still holding the POWER button, Release the RESUME button, then press and release the RESUME button two more times in succession.
The printer mechanics will move momentarily. You are now in Service mode. Release the Power Button.
Pressing the RESUME key will select a function; for example, pressing RESUME 4 times will select the clear waste ink counter function. The lamp will alternate color with each key press.
1. Service/factory test printout, including ink sensor check
2. EEPROM info printout
3. EEPROM initialization
4. Clear the waste-ink counter
5. Printer model setting. (more selections beyond this- leave this alone)
After selecting mode, press the POWER button to commit the change, and return to the top of the function selection menu. Pressing the POWER button again turns off the printer for a restart.
There are two possible ways to remove the error from your printer. First is to actually clean the absorber pads that are full of waste ink. The second is to reset the printer to clear the error and let the printer print again.
Clean the two absorber pads. There are actually two absorber pads located on the right side of the printer, under the ink cartridges when the carrier is in the home position.
Accessing the pads and remove them for cleaning?
Turn on the printer. Lift the top cover to expose the ink cartridges. As soon as you lift up the cover the cartridge carrier will move away from its home base. Then the pads will be exposed. It will be a dirty job so be prepared with your tweezers and extra cloth for some ink spillage. Using the tweezers, lift up the pads sitting on the rubber retainer. The pads can be easily clean by placing them under running water. Use warm water to remove the ink from the pads. Dry the pads and reinstall them. Same procedure if you are installing new pads.
However, the problem will not be solve especially if you are currently facing the waste ink absorber full error or E-27.
