What does K band and x band mean for radar functions

They are different frequencies that the police radar guns can use.
  • X Band, 10.500 - 10.550 GHz
  • K Band, 24.050 - 24.250 GHz
In the same way that you can have different radio stations that are different frequencies, there are different radar guns that use different frequencies to determine your speed. Radar detectors are designed to pick up these frequencies to alert you when one may be in use in the area.

I have made a mistake and put fluid in the big nut on top of gear tronic how do I rectify

Oops, this is a big mistake, but fortunately not the end of the world.

The 27 mm bolt anchors the B4 transmission band, which is what gives you third gear. If you were to drive the car now, you can't shift into third, but you can skip over it (geartronic) and shift into 4th.

There is a way to use a small screwdriver to try to shift the band back into place to where the threaded part rests right under the bolt hole.
If that fails, then you can drill a small hole in the 27 mm bolt and use a screwdriver through that hole and hold the band in place while you snug the bolt, then seal the hole (tap it and use a small screw, etc.).

If that fails, the trans comes out and has to be disassembled and reassembled.

How to program the radio in a 96Lincoln continental after battery was disconnected

Hi,

Here is the link to the owners manual which you can download if you wish:

http://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerGuidePage&year=1996&make=Lincoln&model=Continental

Here/below are the specific instructions on the radio programming (pg. 159 of above link).

Good luck & please flag if "HELPFUL". Thanks!

(from section) Luxury Audio System

Selecting the AM or FM frequency band

Push the "AM" or "FM1/FM2" button to select the desired frequency band. Pushing the "FM1/FM2" button more than once will alternate between FM1 and FM2. These functions are used with the station memory buttons described under How to tune radio stations.

HOW to tune radio stations

There are four ways for you to tune in a particular station. You can use the "TUNE", "SEEK", 'SCAN"or memory buttons.

ā€¢ Using the "TUNE" function:
You can change the frequency up or down one increment at a time by Pressing and releasing either the left (< arrow/up) or - right (> arrow/down) side of the "TUNE" or "TUNE DISCS" button. To change frequencies quickly, press and hold down either the right or left side of the button.

Manual tuning adjusts your radio to any allowable broadcast frequency, whether or not a station is present on that frequency. (See All About Radio Frequencies in this section.)

ā€¢ Using the "SEEK" function
: Press the right *) side of the "SEEK" button to select the next listenable station up the frequency band. Press the left (.4) side of the button to select the next listenable station down the frequency band. By holding the button down, listenable stations can be passed over to reach the desired station. Pressing the "SCAN" button will begin the scan mode up the frequency band, stopping on each listenable station for approximately five seconds. To stop the scan mode on the presently sampled station, press the "SCAN" button again.

Setting the station MEMORY PRESET buttons
: Your radio is equipped with 6 station memory buttons. These buttons can be used to select up to 6 preset AM stations and 12 FM stations (6 in FMI and 6 in FM2)

1. Select a band, then select a frequency.

2. Press one of the memory buttons and hold until the sound returns and the lamp above the memory button lights up. That
memory button is now set.

3. Follow the above steps for each memory preset button.

NOTE:
Custom memory presets can be recalled using the keyless entry system. See Memory Profile System in the Features chapter.

Using the Automatic Memory Store feature ("AUTOSET")
: If the memory buttons have been set, either by using the Auto Memory Load feature or if you have set them manually, the system is prepared tolet you use a convenient feature called Automatic Memory Store.

With Auto Memory Store, you can continually set strong stations into your memory buttons without losing your originally set stations. Your radio will automatically set your memory buttons to the strong local stations.

Activate Auto Memory Store by pushing the "AUTOSET" button once. Your radio will set the first six strong stations of the band you are in (AM, FMI or FM2) into the memory buttons. The display will flash "AUTO" and display the autoset icon "A" while the stations are being set in the memory buttons.

NOTE: If there are less than six strong stations in the frequency band, the remaining unfilled buttons will store the last strong station detected on the band. After all stations have been filled, the radio will begin playing the station stored on memory button 1.

To deactivate the Auto Memory Store mode and return to the manually-set memory button stations, simply push the "AUTOSET" button. Display will show "AUTO" then "OFF". The next time Auto Memory Store is activated on that band, the radio will store the next set of six strong stations.

Dewalt DSCN1360 tuner problem

Don't you have an automatic tuning system or ATS? By pressing a band switch for a while the ATS starts looking for stations and stores the ones that have a good enough signal. Even if a station broadcasts but the location of the radio is not adequate for a good signal to be received, the station won't register and it will appear to you that the tuner is skipping.

How do I preset the tuner for radio stations. I've never had a problem doing this with any other stereo. But what I think should work isn't!

Not very specific. Do you have the manual?

The following is from a VSX-03TXH manual. It ain't pretty but it may help.

I'm posting it in multiple parts due to space contraints.

Chapter 6:

Using the tuner

Listening to the radio

The following steps show you how to tune in to FM and

AM radio broadcasts using the automatic (search) and

manual (step) tuning functions. If you already know the

frequency of the station you want, see Tuning directly to a

station below. Once you are tuned to a station you can

memorize the frequency for recall later-see Saving

station presets below for more on how to do this.

1 Press the FM/AM button to select the tuner.

2 Use the FM/AM button to change the band (FM or

AM), if necessary.

Each press switches the band between FM and AM.

3 Tune to a station.

There are three ways to do this:

Automatic tuning

To search for stations in the currently selected band,

press and hold TUNE ?ĀĀ©/?Ā? for about a second. The

receiver will start searching for the next station,

stopping when it has found one. Repeat to search for

other stations.

Manual tuning

To change the frequency one step at a time, press

TUNE ?ĀĀ©/?Ā?.

High speed tuning

Press and hold TUNE ?ĀĀ©/?Ā? for high speed tuning.

Release the button at the frequency you want.

Improving FM stereo sound

If the TUNED or STEREO indicators don't light when

tuning to an FM station because the signal is weak, press

the MPX button to switch the receiver into mono

reception mode. This should improve the sound quality

and allow you to enjoy the broadcast.

Using Neural THX

This feature uses Neural Surround™, THX® technology to

achieve optimal surround sound from FM radio.

• While listening to FM radio, press AUTO/DIRECT for
Neural THX listening.

My Grundig Satellit 700 Radio is not working on FM Band but is working well on AM and Shortwave Band. After pressing ON/OFF button and FM/RDS-AF button when we try to operate the FM Band of this radio...

The most common problem for no FM is the failure of component F1 IF transformer. One of the windings on the transformer opens, so you have either no input, or a very low level input to the FM mixer. You need to obtain a copy of the Satellit 700 service manual, and then find F1 in the schematics. You can check the windings with a simple ohm meter to verify if one of the windings is open or not.
If F1 is defective, and I have seen many 700's with this fault, you need to replace it with an adjustable 10.7 MHz IF Transformer in a 7mm can configuration.
I found a replacement 7 mm 10.7 MHz IF Transformer at Talon Electronics. Their part number for it is IND2134, and it costs a whopping $0.80. Here is a link:
