Controls locked on washer and cant unlock them

The Control Lock prevents unintended use of the washer. You can also use the control lock feature to prevent unintended cycle or option changes during a cycle. When CONTROL LOCKED is lit, all buttons are disabled except for Pause/Cancel and Start. You can lock the controls while the washer is operating. To lock the controls: Select and hold DRAIN & SPIN for 3 seconds. The CONTROL LOCKED status light glows. To unlock the controls: Select and hold DRAIN & SPIN for 3 seconds or until the CONTROL LOCKED Status light turns off.

Without the model number of your washer, it is difficult to advise you on how to unlock the controls. Most controls will have the instructions for locking/unlocking on the front panel. Check for a lock icon on the controls. Some washers have a specific lock button with a padlock icon on it. The normal method for locking/unlocking is to hold the button for 3 deliberate seconds or until the control unlocks. This may take as long as 10 seconds on some models.

If it is a Duet model there press the button at 5 o'clock for more than 3 seconds to unlock the control panel. If it is NOT a Duet model... we need you model number ot help you as there are different methods of unlocking the controls depending upon the manufacturer and model. So plese provide a model number if possible... or at least a brand and what you think it is. Thanks.

Hello

Your whirlpool duet washer needs a reset to resolve the control lock problem. Press and hold the END OF CYCLE button for 15 seconds to unlock the control. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

You have a door lock issue not a control panel lock issue.You can manually unlock the door.Start by unplugging the washer,remove the front lower panel at the bottom of the unit their are 3 small screws on the very bottom next to the floor ,remove them then pull out on the bottom of the panel to remove.Now you can reach up inside the unit near where the door handle is on the outside and you will feel a small ring that you can put your finger thru.pull down towards the floor on the ring and that will manually unlock the door. While there clean out the drain pump strainer right there in front in case its clogged if in does not drain properly in will not unlock the door.Make sure to put something under the pump to catch the water that will come out..At least you can get your clothes out. After checking the pump if that's not the issue write back and we will diagnosis from their Good Luck

The F30 error code will flash when the dispenser motor cannot be driven to its proper position.



Door Unlock Error

A Door Unlock Error occurs if the door cannot be unlocked.
It will try to unlock the door 6 times before displaying the error.


Door Lock Mechanism broken.
Check Door Lock/Switch Assembly for foreign objects
Check Wire Harness connections to the Door Lock/Switch Assembly and Central Control Unit (CCU)
Door Lock/Switch Assembly Failure


If it is a cabrio:
dU flashes if the following conditions occur:
Excessive force on door lid is preventing lock bolt from retracting.
Wash media buildup is preventing lock bolt from retracting.
Machine/motor control cannot determine if door lid is in an unlocked state.

TEST #8 Door Lid Lock
Perform the following checks if washer fails to lock (or unlock).
1. Perform Manual: Door Switch and Manual: Door Lid Lock tests.
2. Remove the console to access the machine/ motor control assembly. See Accessing & Removing the Electronic Assemblies.
3. Visually check that the P12 connector is inserted all the way into the machine/motor control. If visual check passes, go to step 4. If visual check fails, reconnect P4 and repeat step 1.
4. Check the lid lock motor winding and switches by removing P12 from the machine/ motor control and checking the
resistance values....

If resistance values are good, go to step 5. If switch measurements do not match the values shown in the table for unlocked (or locked) conditions, a problem
exists in the door lid lock. Replace the door lid lock.
5. If the Manual: Door Switch or Manual: Door Lid Lock in step 1 failed, then the machine/motor control has failed: Unplug washer or disconnect power.
Replace machine/motor control assembly. Perform the Manual: Door Switch and Manual: Door Lid Lock in step 1 to verify repair.

I think it is the Control On button and the cancel button. My locked and I can get it to shut off but it won't come back on.

This advise is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet front loader washers and dryers with a Control Lock problem.

This may or may not be an indication of a serious problem. In the majority of the cases, this is a simple operator error. Nearly all these model appliances have some sort of Control Lock feature on the front panel now. This is a designed safety feature that is used to prevent small children from manipulating the controls. The controls can be easily locked or unlocked by pressing and holding the following button on the front panel:

Whirlpool Duet Washer - Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds.

Whirlpool Duet Dryer - Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds.

Kenmore Elite Washer - Press and hold the DRAIN/SPIN button for 3 seconds.

Kenmore Elite Dryer - Press and hold the AUTO DRY LEVEL button for 3 seconds.

These instructions may not be all inclusive for all Kenmore and Whirlpool models, but they are the most common. Chances are, if you have a Control Lock feature, the instructions will be printed on the front panel adjacent to the button that is required to lock or unlock the controls.

NOTE: These instructions may also work for newer model Maytag, Hotpoint, Admiral and Fridgidaire model front loaders as well. Refer to your owner's manual or front panel for instructions pertaining to your sepcific model.

If the Control Lock feature will not lock or unlock the appliance, unplugging the unit for AT LEAST 30 minutes is recommended in order to reset the main control board. In many cases this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches.

the controls on our unit can be locked by holding a button for 3-5 seconds.
look on the control panel for a "paddle lock" symbol next to one of the buttons. cant tell you which one as they do change from year to year.
just find the right button and hold it in for a few seconds. then it will beep and should unlock after that.

Hold the 'options' and 'select' buttons down at the same time for several seconds, the thing will unlock.
