Need instructions on 'programming' my Sharp SPC900 Atomic Clock. It has lost sync with the satellite and didn't automatically catch up with DST.

  • Charles Darling Mar 15, 2010

The picture isn't of this clock and this clock is digital and does not have hands, so this solution doesn't apply. Also, given that it may not have the capability of working properly since Congress decreed the earlier/later DST in 2007, it might be just as well to allow the clock to catch up on its own. Interestingly, the satellite sync has started working since I posted the problem. Maybe the cloud cover wasn't allowing it to work properly. That sometimes happens with my GPS. Ideas? Do you know where a manual for this

I don't know about your atomic sync problem. But here is how you can set the time zone:

Push the Time button once. This will change the Month/Day window to Alarm 1. Push the up button until the desired time zone is reached. Push the Time button twice more to return back to Month/Day display.

Hi,

In order to synch you need to do the following:
Pull the batteries and wait a few minutes. Put batteries back in - time will set to 8:00 (or possibly something different). Press the "leverage button" (just above an to the left of the time zone buttons) and the clock hands will spin. Release the leverage button when the correct time is reached. Supposedly, this new time will track correctly and keep accurate time. Check this article as well:
http://home.comcast.net/~mark.flint/instructions-spc364.html page which contains the full instructions for the Sharp Atomic Clock .

Please let me know if this does not help else please accept it.

How do I change from military to 12 hour format on the time display of the Sharp Atomic Weather Station SPC1003

Resetting: 1. Remove batteries from both the outdoor transmitter and the Temperature station. 2. Wait at least 30 seconds and then repeat the procedures specified in Setting up (above). Note: Always wait at least 30 seconds after removing the batteries before reinserting, otherwise start up and transmission problems may occur. Also, remember when insertting, that both units have to reset and to always reinsert the batteries to the transmitter first

Instructions
    • 1 Insert the batteries into the clock and verify that the clock's display is functioning.
    • 2 Set the correct time-zone and Daylight Saving Time (DST) switches. The switches are on the back of the clock. Select EST if you are in Eastern Standard Time, CST if you are in Central Standard Time, MST if you are in Mountain Standard Time, or PST if you are in Pacific Standard Time. The DST selector should be set to "off" or "on" depending on the laws of your state.
    • 3 Wait 15 minutes. The clock should synchronize automatically.
    • 4 Set the clock manually using the buttons on the back panel if the clock does not catch the radio signal within the first 15 minutes. Push the correct button to advance the month/day/year on the calendar; use the MODE button to set the hour and minute.
    • 5 The clock should adjust itself within 48 hours to match the atomic signal. Verify that the clock is receiving the signal by checking the front display. You should see the image of a tower with circular lines at its top.
