SOURCE: operator manual for huffy crosswind bike grip shift

Look for the manufacturers name and model number on the gripshift and check at www.parktool.com. Look under derailleurs for repair tips which will give you an idea how they work. A twelve speed has six gears on the rear sprocket and two on the crank giving you a combination of twelve speeds. sheldonbrown.com is another good site with good articles and pictures.

SOURCE: I am trying to fix

You can use the 6 speed rear derailleur with no problems. The 5-spd shifter does not need to be disabled, as it will work just fine.

The shifter controls the rear derailleur, telling it how far to move. The rear derailluer just follows what is dictated, so there is no real difference mechanically between the 5spd and 6spd derailleurs, only in the shifter.

If you wanted to make the bike 6spd, you would have to change the shifter and gears along with the derailleur.

The same way they all shift (considering the different physical designs of the shifters). Each lever has a control for INcreasing required effort or DEcreasing it. They work opposite each other.

Get on a search engine and look for "how do you shift gears on a bike" for many videos.

Huffy has manuals, too.

Do 10 speed huffy mountain bikes have master link on chain for removal?

No, they do not - a chain tool has to be used. Also, a 10 speed (2 gears in front, 5 in the rear) would be quite old, so the rear gear cluster (freewheel) will be worn as well as the chain, and also takes a specialized tool to remove. Replacing both on a Huffy will cost more than the bike is worth.

Manual for a 15 speed Mt Fury Roadmaster speed index shifting bike it is a men's bike, was given to me, new to a k15 speed.

Bike manuals are pretty generic, and not always very helpful, containing only safety and very basic info. Also, 15 speed bikes have not been produced for some time, so it would be difficult to obtain a manual.specifically for a 15 speed. Here's a link to a manual that may help: https://www.huffybikes.com/content/pdf/ownersmanuals/7f448214-b108-4c48-93eb-972b6c9e4a17.pdf
If you need to know how to use the gears just Google "how to shift bike gears" and check out both written and video guides. Finally, for maintenance check Repair Help

26" Hyper Havoc Full Suspension Men's Mountain Bike is it good ride for around town as well as country terrain

Looks like a nice bike to ride everywhere and as an urban commuter I would love to ride it in traffic instead of using a road bike or commuter type. If you need more speed in town or want to compete, a road bike might be better. A mountain bike will probably last longer than a road bike under all driving conditions.

How do I change gears on a 10 speed bike?

move the shift lever while pedaling. The gears won't change unless you rotate the crank at the same time you actuate the shifter. If this doesn't work then the derailleurs are out of adjustment and will need to be adjusted. Check with your local bike shop for service.

Hello, I bought my little girl the huffy 12in disney princess bike (blue) already assembled from walmart. she tried to ride it today, but when she pedals the back wheel spins, but the training wheels and...

ONE AT A TIME, loosen the nuts securing the training wheels to the rear axle and slide each one upward a little bit so it float a little bit off the ground when the bike is vertical, then retighten the nut.

As she develops her handling and balance skills she'll need less help from the training wheel. So you can gradually raise them a bit higher as she masters balance and then she'll develop the 'lean' for turning. Ultimately, you remove them entirely.

I hope she's wearing a properly-fitted helmet.
