My grill stopped smoking after being on for some time and had gotten cold. I restarted it and it start smoking vigorously very quickly. When I turned it to medium there was a internal explosion of sorts as the top popped open and fire developed under the drainage pan. I had recently cleaned the drainage pan and cleared the ashes from the bottom, and it worked perfectly the nex time I used it.

I had the same thing happen with my Treager.

However when mine back drafted ( the explosion ) the blew the door open so hard it bent it, I had just turned away or I would have taken that blast in the face, from a distance of 3 feet - could have been one of those OUCH moments

When i talked to Mike Treager he said NEVER start your grill with the door closed And that if you are smoking with low heat before you turn the grill off run it on high for 5 minutes to burn up anything left in the ash pot
I do and have never had a problem since and I rarely need to clean it out as the high fire burns 99% of everything in the ash pot

My Traeger grill keeps going off on smoke

Do you get an error messsage that looks like LEr? If a Traeger can't reach 125 for ten consecutive minutes, it will automatically shut down. Try starting at a higher temperature than "Smoke" if it's cold outside. Traeger also makes "blankets" to help your smoker maintain temp in cold climates, but they're quite an investment.

After 10 minutes on smoke, closed the lid and set temperature to 300. The readout says LEr and the grill is cool. Suggestions besides using a gas grill?

My Husqvarna 351 starts then stops after 1-2 seconds

Once the saw cools down will it restart and run fine? There are a couple other solutions that are not directly due to carburation. The first two solutions above are definitely your first options.

1. Ignition Coil: Highly unlikely, but possible. I seen some where they get hot and run fine while cutting, you shut it down for a few minutes for whatever reason and it won't restart or starts and stalls.

2. Crankcase Air Leak: We started to see more and more of these issues. There are a couple of quick ways to test this if you do not want to pay a shop to do an actual test. You want to do a cold test and a hot test. With a half tank of fuel, start the saw up for the first time of the day. While the saw is idling, turn the saw sideways from right to left, do this slowly, listen to the saw idle, if the speed changes by increasing or almost stalling, you have a crankcase air leak. Most bad air leaks won't be noticeable until the saw has gotten hot and the aluminum crankcase starts to expand a bit. Do the same thing once the saw has gotten hot. If this happens when it's hot, chances are that it won't start or starts and stalls until it cools down and everything retracts.
Test Results:
Sporadic idling when cold: Most likely just the oil seals, fairly inexpensive repair.
Sporadic idling when hot: Most likely crankcase itself is leaking, requires a complete crankcase gasket replacement. Can be fairly expensive to repair.

My smoker stopped smoking; the temperature is IDEAL

You will need to replenish the charcoal as it burns down. You can also add some soaked wood chips or wood chunks at the same time for additional smoke flavor. It you are using the water pan it would be a good time make sure it has plenty of water also.

Watch your temperatures and when you see it start to drop, add more fuel to keep the temps up.

I hope this helps.

Do I need to preheat the oven when cooking in the iven When using as a grill the grill smokes all the time

hi, what you need to do is turn the grill on and leave it on what is happening is all the steam and fat and grease form the cooking you have done in the oven has risen and stuck on the heating element the grill uses, so open your windows and turn the grill onto its highest setting and just leave it after a while the smoke will stop.

You need to do this so that any food you cook using the grill doesnt smell of the smoke thats burning on the grill element.

Dont worry you wont do any harm to it this is a very common problem with combo ovens and grills and the same goes for microwaves with the grill feature so dont worry to much its what happens over time if you dont use the grill much.

So just switch the grill on and leave it it can take upto 20 to 30min to stop smoking but after its burned off all the grease and fat etc it will stop smoking and stop smelling so dont worry everybody who has one goes through this same problem.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok.

Its best you do this once a week or so to ensure that it dont build up to much as it can really stink the whole place out and if you cook food without burning it all off your food will taste like the smell witch believe me isnt nice, so just leave it all to burn off leave your windows and doors open and after about 20 min you should find the smoke will stop and the smell will go away.

You may find it only takes 5 to 10 min but dont worry no matter how long it takes your not doing any harm your just cleaning the element.

Dont try cleaning it with cleaning products as this can cause harm to the element and could taint any food with the cleaning product you use.

The only real help you can give is that before you turn it on to burn off the grease use a stiff hand brush and brush the element to remove all the dried on loose bits this will then make it quicker to stop smoking.

But other than that just leave it and it will sort itself out.

Smoke when braking!

Is this smoke or steam if it disapates quickly it is steam (which means you either have a water leak or are overheating) if it is smoke it will hang in the air much longer this could be something as simple as a valve cover leaking, a brake line leaking and hitting your exhaust manifold

My Brinkmann Electric Smoke and Grill (Double) is cooking

I hope your turkey turned out OK. I read all of the smoking and grilling forums and it seemed to be a very common occurrence yesterday that turkeys cooked in far less time that the grill masters thought they would. Could be that most birds are pre-brined and the additional moisture causes the birds to cook faster. Could be that they are leaner than in the past and the fat renders sooner, causing internal temp to rise faster.

I would let it cook and just check the internal meat temperature at regular intervals starting about 15 minutes per pound.

At what temperature was your smoker running during your cook?

Regarding gas Barbeque and charcoal Barbeque

It depends on your preferance

Charcoal most say it gives what your cooking better flavor but the disadvantage is waiting for the coals to get hot and longer cooking time due to less heat.

Gas quick cooking time, quick warmup time the disadvantages scrafice some of the flavor, unless you buy a gas grill set up to smoke it is almost impossible to use a conventional gas grill for smoking, and also you have to have enough gas to cook completly or have a second tank in case you run out.

Hope this helps Ya
