SOURCE: muffled sound

HELLO!
I don't think the problem is the actual stylus (needle), it sounds like the magnetic cartridge has become faulty in some way (it does happen). My advice is try another cartridge and stylus (borrow if you can). If the audio stays the same then it MAY be the wiring in the arm going through the plinth (deck) and these wires terminate to pins or a small pcb board in the turntable where the phono cables and arm wires are connected. There may be a bad connection inside.
Also, make sure your tonearm counterweight and anti-skate are set up properly as well as this can have an effect on audio.
I hope this helps as I have been into audio since I was a kid!

Recently purhcased new Gemini T 1000 turntable and it skips constantly when playing records. I allowed more weight to be assigned to the needle on the record and it helped slightly (up to about 1.5 from...

I'm no expert, but based on the general idea of operation for a turntable, it sounds like the arm is getting bound up or being hindered in some way. If you pick the arm up and swing it back and forth manually, can you feel a place in the movement that seems to have some degree of resistance? You would want to move the arm very slowly and feel for even the slightest amount of resistance. It doesn't take much force to hold the arm from advancing. An ill positioned wire in the base of the arm could be the culprit or if the unit has an automated return home mechanism, there could be a problem there as well. Maybe working the arm back and forth manually several times to its fullest allowable extension, will help to eliminate the impediment. Do this caringly and without excessive force. I hope this helps.

My technic 1200 mk2 skips records, i tried other needles and adjusted tone arm. Even tried pennies on cartridge

Ensure that the turntable is sitting as flat as possible and does not allow any external vibration to penetrate.
Also try operating it without a record on it make sure that the plate is turning smoothly without interruption and also does not have any vibration.

GOING FROM 45 TO 33

I don't know if this model is direct driven or by belt. If it's belt driven then the belt could be fitted incorrectly, or faulty. Another possibilty is that there's a fault in the motor control circuit.

My 33 & 45 speed giving problems

HELLO
I have just posted a cure for this deck, it is to do with the microswitches under the speed select buttons - they need to be replaced. Just repaired mine today - now there are no more problems selecting speeds.
If the speed goes back to 33 when the deck is switched off, this is because 33 is the default.
ALL THE BEST!
