No voice sound through speaker with DVD system, only music?

When playing all DVD's, I can not hear the voices. It is like a muffled sound, but the music and back ground noise plays. The weirdest thing is that the sound plays with other languages. Can you please tell me how to fix the problem?

Same problem. I run it through a new Sony AV receiver but I only have 2
speakers hooked up. Would it be on the Sony Blue Ray player that you
adjust the settings or can/should it be done on the AV receiver?

Have an internal Blue-Ray Disk (LG GGC-H20), the SECOND one I've installed (the first was Lite-On). While I can get 5.1 audio fine through my speakers from other devices, a DVD will play background and sub-woofer channels, but NO VOICE (at least from the main characters -- background conversation comes through fine). Updated drivers, checked plugs, ran tests -- works fine, even from other SATA devices (e.g. HDD). Suggestions?

I have a samsung home cinema for a few months now and I find it very nice and easy to operate. During the last 2 days I had the same problem, no voice just music. I visited this site in order to find out how to solve the problem before I contact the sales company.

After going through the manual I found out that the music is distributed by the peripheral speakers but the voice is only coming from the center.

I run a sound test and realised that NO sound was coming out from the center speaker. I checked the cables and found one of them disconnected. Put it back in. Problem solved. Maybe this is helpful for someone.....Cheers

First check the settings on the audio menu of the dvd player. make sur it is set to 5.1 (if available) otherwise set it to stereo and your system should decode it.
assuming the second step is okay : as other dvd you play seem to work) it still may be that your unit is decoding stereo inputs just fine and 5.1 is not working properly....
so if adjusting audio settings in dvd play back menu dont work,
check that the cables to the satellite speakers are connected correctly and all plugged in soundly ( voice is high frequency,- coming from satellites - the garbled noises you hear are the base ( low freq) elements of voice which are coming from the bass box ( that the X.1 part of 5.1) and so that is obviously working. ,

I have to differ with the above content. Voice content frequencies are closer to 80htz - 4Khtz. Secondly, none of the other speakers are of issue, not the front left and right, not the rear left and right, nor the sub. The only speaker that is affected in your case, is the single center speaker. I would try the factory reset in your owner's manual. That should correct this. I would say that you might have a bad center channel, but you say that it plays in other languages just fine. Try the reset...

UBX Home Theater System

It sounds like a problem with your centre channel or speaker. The sound of Voices and on-screen, actions in the middle of the screen are played through the centre speaker. General sounds such as music in the background, off-screen events, etc. will be played through other speakers on a home theatre system. Check your connectors coming from your DVD player to your sound system. Are you using a single-cabled digital connector or one for every channel? Check your sound settings as well, i.e., Surround, AC3, Music, etc.

Muffled Voices on Dolby DVD Playback

Most voices come out of the centre channel. Put your ear to that to see if it is working. If it is not then you might have somehow managed to switch it off. Check the cable connections to the speaker also.

Gateway dx4840-11e. During video can hear music but not actor voices. What to do?

do you have the sound set to surrond sound? What it sounds like is that it is trying to play through surrond speakers but you dont have them, which is why you can hear the music and not the actors voices. click with the right mouse button on the speaker in the bottom right of your screen, then click on sounds , now click on the playback tab in the sound window, click on the sound device shown and then click configure, choose stereo and choose two speakers. Continue to the end then try to play the video and see if you can now hear the voices. If you cant then you maybe missing codecs needed to play the audio correctly. Please state if this is a movie you have downloaded or a dvd film on disc etc

Surrond noises play but no voices , we can hear the music on the dvd and background noises but not the voices

The voices generally come out of the center channel speaker, in a 5.1 or higher dolby set-up. Hope this helps.

When watching a DVD, the surround sound plays all background music but the actors voices are not heard - can hear music and voices in 2 speaker only - TV programs play in 2, 3, and 5 speaker mode.

If there is nothing at all from the center channel while watching a DVD, first try resetting the system (unplug the power cord from the sub, and the DC power cord from the media center for 30+ seconds) If a reset doesn't help this, run the "adaptIQ" setup disc again. Honestly, this is a very odd problem for that system to have. (especially since we know the center speaker works for other sources) I hope this helps.

The speach during a movie sounds muffled

Hello,
Please download Instruction Manual of DAV-DZ260 from Sony Support and go to page 25 and select appropriate sound option.
The disc in player doesn't match with current sound selection thats why you hear muffled sound.
Thank you.
