I phoned canon with a similar problem. Poss reasons: 1 A clash between codecs - try removing as many codecs as poss then installing something like Ace mega codecs (this did not work for me). 2. Has the card been formatted on the computer ? I have since reformatted my card using low level format option on the camera. It has worked fine with 2 video clips I tried today - but I still cannot play my earlier problem files.
Have you finalised the disc ? Go into the menu and where you format the disc there is an option to finalise. It should then play on your laptop. Hope that helps ;)
