Fridge not making usual humming sound

My LG fridge freezer has stopped making the usual humming noise for about the last 4 hours. The temperature where the frdge is kept is about 45 degrees, very cold (problem with heating). Light to freezer and fridge are both working. Is it normal for the fridge to be quiet for as long?

GE profile fridge making loud humming noise

The door being open so long caused warm moist air to collect and freeze inside the unit.

Take everything out, unplug it and let it thaw out for an entire day. All the frost will thaw, and probably run water all over the place so put towels down.

When you plug it back it, it should work fine.

Hotpoint ctx18ea fridge not cooling

Kimberley, try this:

First see any sign of ice build up in the freezer.

1. Switch off power from wall outlet.
2. Open the fridge door and freezer door and keep them open for atleast 5-6 hours. Salvage whatever food you can.
3. You may now see a puddle of water under the fridge. Clean the floor and inside of the fridge if water and other fluids visible .
4. Now re-connect power and set the recommended settings- usually at 4. Close doors.
5. Your fridge will be making a humming sound. Let it begin to cool.
Good luck

My samsung fridge/freezer is only 3 years old, just started making loud noise, then when the fridge is opened sounds like the fan making a loud noise that goes down and stops. Then not long after that...

Compressors usually make a thrumming/humming noise, so yes, this sounds like the fan. It could be something touching the fan blades, like ice or a wire. If you can unplug the fridge and remove panels near the fan, you may discover the problem.

Whirlpool refrigerator not cooling after storm

Assuming that both freezer and refrigerator temperatures have risen and the humming sound that you heard was followed by a sudden click more than likely the start device on the compressor has gone bad. This is a common problem with all Whirlpool refrigerators (KitchenAid is Whirlpools top of the line product and suffers the same problem).

Fridge makes a fairly loud humming noise when I close the door

it sounds like your refridgerator might be unlevel try adjusting the legs all the way down to start then level to floor if that doesnt fix it its probably the rubber gromet under the compressor usually there is four of them if one comes out(usually after moving it makes your compressor vibrate you can use almost any gromet of of any junk refrigerator or if you want you can by original replacement parts at one of your local appliance dealer

Loud humming noise as fridge is running

Sounds like the freezer fan is rubbing some wires or possible some foam insulation around the fan. I would look into the freezer compartment fan and go from there. The fan Will Shut off when you open the doors. Let me know how you make out and if you need anymore help.

Thanks,
Bill
