I have a Philips GoGear HDD1830 (8 GB) MP3 Player with missing drivers. I have windows 7. The drivers for this device found on the website are for windows XP. What are my options?

Uninstall Musicmatch Jukebox completely from your computer. Uninstall Windows Media Player 11, and rollback to version 10. Make sure you are NOT running Windows Vista.
The install the version of the Device Manager from Philips' website. Then try plugging in again.
Recovery Mode for Philips' GoGear
Open the Philips Device Manager (Start à All Programs à Philips Digital Audio Player àXXX à Philips Device Manager) and click on the “Repair” tab.  Then click on the “Repair” button to start the repair process.  Most of the time, when your player is in that state, the Device Manager will not recognize that your GoGear is plugged in.  If this is the case: Disconnect the player from the PC, and make sure the mp3 player is turned off. Hold in the volume + button on the mp3 player, and reconnect the player to your pc while holding in the volume + button. Continue holding the volume + for 10-15 seconds until a "Found New Hardware Wizard" pops up. It should recover your device if there isn't anything internally wrong with the player. Warning: this procedure will result in your songs being erased off the player, so they will have to be reloaded.

You need to get the latest firmware upgrade from the Philips website:
1. Go to www.philips.com/support
2. Enter your country/language
3. Enter your model # SA6045 or whatever
4. Click on the link for your exact model # (the one w/o the "B" in it)
5. Click on "Software & Drivers"
6. Download the updated "Device/Firmware Manager"
7. Once installed, open the Philips Device Manager
8. Click on the "Update" tab, then the "Update" button (with your mp3 player connected to the computer, of course)
9. Your Mp3 players firmware will update automatically
If you do not have the latest version of the Philips Device Manager installed (the latest is the version from the Philips website), then clicking the "Update" button will give you a false positive saying "The firmware on your device is already up to date."

Code 10 errors can be resolved by completely uninstalling the Philips Device Manager and other software that came with the GoGear installation CD, and then reinstalling the clean version of the software from the Philips website.  Then running a Repair. The version of the Device Manager that is on the installation CD is not the same version as the one from the website.

If that fails:

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

Grab the software directly from the Philips website at www.usasupport.philips.com - enter in your model #, click on software and drivers, then click on Device/Frimware Manager - this is a more recent version than that found on the installation CD.

Also, you can follow the FAQ process on the website which says "Player not recongized by PC"

If that fails, do a repair and a firmware upgrade:
1) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) - if you don't see it, then re-run the installation CD or grab the "Device/Firmware Manager" from the Philips website
2) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
3) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off (if you haven't done so already) - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

You will now be able to load the firmware upgrade by clicking on the update tab in Philips Device Manager. The firmware upgrade should resolve the issue permanently.
