If you are convinced that the laser burned out, the most you can do is to buy a new drive. It's possible to buy a new diode and replace it, but it's highly not recommended as it might not be compatible and can be very dangerous.

It sounds like the DVD write laser isn't firing properly. This is usually a different laser than the read laser.
Have you tried DVD+R vs DVD-R blanks?

My MW2 got laser burn PLEASE HELP

Laser burn is particularly nasty so common household disc cleaners won't do the job. GAME stores usually have an industrial strength disk cleaner which only costs £3 to repair discs. There is no guarantee any amount of disc repair will work, as laser burn can be fatal on discs, but this is your best bet. To avoid laser burn, lay your console flat (not standing up) and make sure its on a level and sturdy surface. Any vibration through the console can cause the laser to over-focus, and then you'll get burn.

How can i fix laser burn on a video game?

Take it back to a store. The reason laser burn happens is when you sit idle in one spot for a very long time. The laser concentrates on that one aspect of the game and it burns it, so save it and turn it off, or keep playing.

I have laser burn on my call of duty modern warfare 2 game, amongst others. how can i fix it or is there a place to get it fixed at. PS. dont sent stupid **** to my email.

Laser burn, looks like complete or partial circular scratches around your disc, also known as “the ring of death”. This occurs to discs when the games console has been moved whilst playing, from an upright to a horizontal position or vice versa or simply knocked against or the wires may have been just tripped upon. Discs are then impaired by a ring of laser burn, which is a circular scratch into the disc. Some home remedies may help with very light scratches on some discs but professional disc repair services is normally rerquired to restore disc laser burn damage back to "As Good As New Condition".

My gta iv has one big laser burn on it how can i fix it?????

obviously your laser has a malfunction because they shouldnt be at a high enough concentration to burn something. you should take it to a repair shop and DONT turn it on until they say its ok, because the laser could burn through other parts and severely damage the system console.

I burn the dvd and then my computer says that the disc is empty, but I can burn cd's just fine?

Sometimes the laser diode for burning the cd and the dvd are seperate, and the one that burns the dvd is no good. It takes more lasing power to burn dvds than cds, and if it is a single diode, then maybe it has weakend, and can omly burn cds. Either way it is a bad diode, The whole laser assemble needs to be replace because it is hard to buy just the laser diode, and even if you buy one, you would not be able to align them properly, and they are very difficult to replace individually, I tried that once by taking a diode from another dvd burner, it did not work.

If this is happening consistently without any knocks or movement of the console, I would contact Microsoft for advice on your games console.
