How do i hook it up to the internet. i have been giving a gateway model fmn400c and icant figure out what hooks it up to the internet... i currently have a laptop hooked up to the internet via cable...

Just run a internet cable from the modem to the input port on the laptop

you plug the internet cable into the ethernet port on the back of the xbox and then you go to system>network and then put the right ip address, subnet, gateway, and dns

How are you connecting to the Internet now¿ That is a serious question since I will assume that this is a second computer hooked up to the same connection you want with the Presario. I also will assume that you don't have a Gateway / Router between the modem and the actual computer. I will assume that you want both of these computers on the Internet at the same time so you will want to hook up the Gateway. To reset the modem so that it will accept a different MAC Address (It's a computer thing) you will need to remove all the connections to the modem and pull out the battery that is behind a hidden door. The modem will need to be in this condition for 1 minute and then it can be hooked up to the new Gateway or Computer however you want it to be hooked up now that the modem has been reset. Good luck.

You probably have a static IP address on you PC desktop.
You can find what the IP is on the PC,by clicking on run then type cmd. When the DOS window opens, type ipconfig . It will give you the IP, Subnet mask, and the Gateway addresses. then you can set up your Mac with that staic IP.

however, the DSL need to be wired to your computer for initial configuration.
if you just hook up the DSL as verizon say, then you will have a open wireless network, anybody can get access to your network.
