Is the oven self cleaning and if so how does it work?

if its self cleanin it will say right on it "self cleaning"

self cleaning ovens do exactly that they clean themselves no harsh chemicals (oven cleaner foam) are needed to dissolve the baked on cooking goo that builds up inside ovens , although if one uses a foil liner in bottom then one might never need to self clean it , but some models cant use liners due to convection fans air flow getting in the way ,
self cleaning ovens have the ability to get very hot (500 degrees plus) no one should ever open a oven in cleaning cycle as this hi temp can spontaneously combust to ashes your hair/clothing never the less burn the hand that opened it severely(most lock the door for safety) all that needs done after cycle, is ashes need wiped out with damp towel next day after cleaning cycle is done and oven cooled off completely , im waiting on the day they make one that sweeps its self out into the dust bin ,(not yet )

How does the self-clean feature work on a Frigidaire CFEF366EMB model?

Hi Beverly,

I understand that you are looking to run your self-clean feature on your Frigidaire range, model# CFEF366EMB.

-To start this you will remove all racks and make sure that any excessive spillovers are cleaned up as best as you can.
-Next you will press the "Clean" button, and the display will show "---".
-Press the up or down arrows to select the length of time you want the oven to clean. Usually 2 or 3 hours.
-The door will automatically lock once your time has been chosen and the "LOCK" indicator light will flash. DO NOT open the door while the light is flashing. (it takes about 15 seconds for the oven door to lock).
-"Cln" will appear in the display during the self-clean cycle and the "LOCK" light will continue to glow until the self-cleaning cycle is complete or cancelled and the oven has cooled.

When the self-clean cycle has completed:
-The time of day or "END" will appear in the display window and the "Clean" and "LOCK" light will continue to glow.
-Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened.
-If "END" is in the display and the Clean indicator light remains ON, press the "CLEAR/OFF" button and the time of day will appear on the display.
-When the oven is cool, wipe away any residue or powdered ash with a damp cloth or paper towel.

-Best Regards-

How do i operate the self cleaning function

Hello - Before using the self-cleaning cycle of the appliance, remove the broiler pan and any utensils stored in the appliance. Also remove any excess spillovers in the oven cavity. Allow the oven to cool before cleaning. During the self-cleaning cycle, the outside of the wall oven can become very hot to the touch.

Typically to set the controls for a self-clean the first step is to confirm that the clock shows the correct time of the day. Press CLEAN. "---" appears in the display. Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW once. "3:00" appears in the display for a 3 hour cycle. To change to a 2 hour cycle press DOWN ARROW"2:00" appears in the display. As soon as the controls are set, the motor drive lock will begin to close automatically and the "LOCK" indicator light will flash. DO NOT open the oven door while the light is flashing (it takes about 15 seconds for the over door to lock). "CLn" will appear in the display during the Self-Clean cycle and the "LOCK" light will glow until the Self-Cleaning cycle is complete or cancelled and the oven temperature has cooled.

When the Self-Clean cycle has completed, the time of the day or "End" will appear in the display window and the "Clean" and "LOCK" light will continue to glow. Once the over has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. If "End" is the display and the Clean indicator light remains ON, press CLEAR/OFF. The time of the day will appear in the display.

If it becomes necessary to stop or interrupt a Self-Cleaning cycle, press CLEAR/OFF. Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. Restart the Self-Clean cycle once all conditions have been corrected.

I have an older model double oven by Kenmore - probably 15-18 years old. I was baking bread in foil three days ago and the oven set on bake 325 degrees. (I had been cooking a roast in it for several hours...

Hi.

the oven may have locked in consequence of the self cleaning cycle.

After unplugging, allow the oven cooling down for few hours.

If the is still locked, then the high temperature generated in self cleaning cycle may have damaged temp probe, door latch, or electronic control.

Parts must be tested to discover the fault.

Call Kenmore at the number listed on the owners manual.

Regards.

I cannot unlock my door after self cleaning, it has been several days i pushed the 9 and unlock key but it will not open.

Unplug the unit or shut off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Plug the unit back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.
or
Set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for 15 minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.
If these procedures fail to correct the condition, the lock must usually be accessed and moved manually to open the door.
Some model ovens require the oven door to be manually unlatched before the controls are returned to the OFF position or else the door may not be able to be unlocked. Check the owner's manual for proper operating procedures.
