I have replaced the power supply on my Acer Aspire X1700 computer but the new power supply acts exactly like the old. When I plug it in and turn it on the "Power Supply On" voltage goes from 5 VDC to 0 VDC but the power supply won't start (when it's 20 pin plug is plugged into the computer) If I unplug the 20 pin plug and force the "power supply on" voltage low both the new and old power supplies work perfectly.

When you have this problem on this PC, do not replace the power supply or the motherboard until you have first tried pulling out the video card. When the video card fails it can cause the x1700 to not power up. Pull the video card and see if it will power up without it.

Cd drive in my acer aspire x1700 doesn't open

You are going to need a paper clip. Look fo a small hole next to the switch. straighten the paper clip and put it in the hole in the center. carefully push to activate the mechansium to open the door. Then you can troubleshoot the door. Turn off the computer then pull the power cord from it. Open the computer case find the power cable to the cdrom/dvdcdrw and push it in to make sure you have good connection. If it still doesn't work after this then you can get a new drive for less than $30.00 (usd)

Hope this helps,
Terry

My acer x1700 doesn't power up the power supply

Check your CMOS battery make sure its in tight and is not drained. also check the power switch cable from the power button to *********** board, that is the most common issue i see in my shop daily. and of course the power cord i would switch that out as well bad power cables are also very common.

I need replacement psu for acer aspire x1700 slimline tower

to be honest, the X1700 is a weak computer, you should NEVER buy slimline desktops, the power supply is going to cost more than the computer, being that it is a special type, you cant just buy it in a store, having to replace some myself, i can tell you that a decent used PC is around $150, and you can still put some of the hardware from the slimline into the used PC such as the hard drive, cd drive, and memory. Best of all, a full sized unit can be fixed relatively easily and for a lot less since most parts are interchangeable

I have an acer aspire 47202 and it wont turn on

Here are a couple of simple things to try:
  1. try removing the battery, plugging the computer in, and starting it again. If it starts, you likely have a battery problem. To verify that it is a battery problem, reinstall the battery and try starting again.
  2. verify that the power supply is plugged in. also verify that you have the right power supply (perhaps you got the wrong one at friends ...)
  3. most power supplies have a light, do you have a light? If not, you need to buy a new power supply. You can buy a universal supply at any store that carries computers. Be sure that it has a wattage rating of at least what your old supply had. Also be sure that it has the voltage that you need. You can buy a replacement on ebay or at your manufacturers web site.

Aspire 3680 Won't charge

Hello,

Have you tested the A/C to be charging correctly ? Have you confirmed that at the back of your laptop where you plug the power in that the pin is not bend and not missing or broken or pushed in ?

If your new battery and the old battery give you exactly the same issue, then most likely your A/C power adapter or cable OR the physical port on your laptop is broken and needs to be replaced.

I have a 13 month old Acer Aspire ax1700 Desktop. Had turned it on yesterday and Fan was making lout noise. Today I turned it on to check it. Was on for about 10 minutes and it just turned off. There are 2...

It seems that the power supply unit has gone. If you power it on and nothing happens then obviously the psu has gone. The heat that you felt was the psu overheating because of no fan and hence no ventilation. The noise was of the faulty psu fan that got stuck or did not work and the psu got overheated and got burnt eventually. Please replace it with a new one as a repaired psu may work but you cant rely on it.

Connecting speakers to Computer

It's usually the green plug that you hook up speakers to. If you look closely at the sound card area of your computer, you will see little pictures telling you which one is for the mike, line in & speaker.
