Text Messaging I have an icon on my screen that wont go away. It's the icon that usually means I have an unread text message, which I don't have, or that my messages are full. My phone holds 200 messages and I only have 70 in my phone. When I go to memory status under the "Message" heading, it shows 73/200 text messages and under that it shows 30/30 for something. It says Text Message next to it, but I have no idea what that means. I want this icon to go away. And I'm afraid it's keeping me from receiving incoming messages! My phone is displaying the icon that indicates that I have a new text or voicemail, but when I go to check it...my text inbox and my voicemail inbox are empty...please help me get this icon to dissapear...nothing is working...

The message centre ensures that your text message is sent to the recipient. If the wrong message centre number is saved in your phone, the text message can't be sent.
Set up your phone for text messaging Find "Text messages" Press the message icon.
Press the menu icon.
Press Settings.
Press Text messages.
Save the message centre number Press Message centre.
Key in +35387699989 and press OK.
Return to the home screen Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

You can block text messages from a specific number or contact on your Android device with a third-party solution. Just follow these steps.


Blocking Text Messages

Option 1

Note: These steps are for the stock “Messaging” app included with Android 5. Some carriers may include a different app for messaging.

Open “Messaging“.
Press the “Menu” Menu icon icon located at the upper-right corner.
Select “Blacklist“.
Set “Blacklist” to “On“, then select the plus (+) to add a person to block.
Type the number you wsih to block. Check “Block incoming calls” and/or “Block incoming messages” as desired, then select “OK“.
If you wish to remove a number from Blacklist, select the number, then choose “Delete“.
Option 2

If your messaging app does not offer a Blacklist option, use Handcent.

Download and install Handcent SMS for your text messaging needs. It’s available in the Google Play store.
Since you’ll be using Handcent for text messaging, disable the notifications for your current text messaging app. Otherwise, you’ll get double notifications for text messages.
Open Handcent then select the “Menu” Android menu button icon at the upper left corner of the screen, then select the gear in the lower left corner of the screen.
Select “Security & privacy” > “Manage blacklist“.
Tap the plus (+) icon to add the phone number you wish to block. You can choose one from your contacts, call logs, or input the number directly.


Now all of the text messages from that person will be blocked and not visible in the Handcent app. You won’t get notifications you’ve received a message from the person either. If you ever want to unblock the person, return to the “Manage blacklist” screen, tap it, then select “Unblacklist“.

Some users have reported that the app “Private Space” works well for them.

Sending an Automatic Reply

If you want to let a person know they have been blocked, you will need to download and install SwiftReply. SwiftReply will allow you to setup an auto reply for specific Contacts.

Ensure the mobile number you wish to block is listed in your Contacts.
Open “SwiftReply” and tap the plus icon (+) to make a new auto-reply.
Type the name you would like to use for the reply and the text you would like to send to the person.
Scroll down and select “Enable User Filter” > “Contacts“.
Tap “Add” and choose the people in your Contacts list that you would like to receive the reply. Tap “Done” when your list is complete.
Tap “Save“, then tap “Off” to turn the auto-reply on.
The specified people will now receive your message automatically and Handcent will block them from your view.

Envelope usually indicated a text message. Usually, if you have unread text messages your little envelope will have a number one or number two, etc in red on it.

You will need to go to your text message icon to open your text message screen.. It might be called *Inbox* but it's not email only text or SMS messages.

This means you have a text message, look for something that says "messages" and go in and read them all. After you read them or delete them the envelope will go away, if you have problems ask someone to help you find your text messages in your phone.

You might have an unread message or you have an unread message on your sim from prevouis cell phone. Go to messaging, options, sim messages. Look for unread message

it means your inbox is full.. in most cases anyway or that your phone is stuck on the text message icon.. it will go away afterawhile i had the same problem with my lg

Yet another essential detail: It might happen that your Nokia E52 is unable to read old messages from your sim card. At least this happened to me, when putting my old card (used in some 6-7 years old nokia phone) to a new E52. No message was visible but they were there!!! The solution: Put the card into your old nokia (switch it perhaps to the card memory) and then delete the old messages (below some number - you must try the amount- or all of them). Then the things work.

It is in fact an unpleasant incompatibility and Nokia should mend it!

It is probabily because u have unread or old Messages stored in the SIM card.

m8 i had a simmiler problem i had a fone witch would allow you to text but would only let me use 30 carectors before it went on to second messsage the result was i was paying 50p for a text message with 150 carrectors. i sent my fone to these guys they reprogramed it now its finehttp://www.mobilephoneservicecentre.co.uk/
