Have you checked to see if the sub amp is turning on. Check to make sure you have at least 12 volts on your power as well as your remote turn on (Blue/White on radio harness).
If everything is hooked up correctly, it is possible that the preout is turned off. Some headunits have selectable preouts. If so you should be able to turn the sub on and off in the menu.
Hope this helps

I have a Kenwood 6140 installed in my Corvette Coupe. I have everything installed but the sound doesn't sound right. It lacks something and I'm thinking that the subs aren't on! Could this be my problem...

Normally if you have a factory ampped system and you remove the factory headunit you lose things like the factory sub. There are only 4 outputs on an aftermarket sub. In order to make your subs work you will need an aftermarket amp.

Subwoofer output: Hold the (AM-) button down for at least two seconds. You can do this function when "SWPRE" in is set to . The SWPRE (Switching Preout) Switches the preout between rear output ("R") and subwoofer output ("SW").

I own the Kenwood DNX7140 navigation system. Periodically the screen says "Software Update Complete" and teh system locks up. I have never updated teh software though. What is wrong with it?

You need to update your software. Garmin does this through a downloaded file you burn to a CD. You then do a firmware update to the Kenwood from the CD. Instuctions are on-line at:

No sound from my front and back speakers in my van ive got subs

Make sure that when you hooked up your 4 channel amp to the remote turn on lead it is the same as the sub. Only hook amps to the Blue w/ white strip. The solid blue is power antenna lead and will lose power when on CD, ipod etc and only stays powered when the Tuner is on. Hope this fixes your problem.
