TV TURNS ON,LINES ACROSS SCREEN THEN TURNS OFF BY ITSELF

SONY TV WILL NOT STAY ON.STAYS ON FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN TURNS OFF BY ITSELF.HAS LINES ACROSS SCREEN.

Sounds like a vertical problem, usually you'll see one white line across the screen, but one I worked on would come on and the bottom half of the picture was gone and there were lines across the top of the screen.

If you know how to solder & can find the vertical output chip then you could try resoldering the pins. If this doesn't fix it then it needs new parts.

solution to above problem
this s because of the secondary emissions of picture tube, and once the supply stops the emmissions from the picture tube wont stop for few seconds and horzontal scannin problem.

please do rete me on the above solution.

RED SCREEN

hell yeah,
the biggest mistake I did with this tv.all tubes need to be replaced and it burns a hole in ur pocket.no guarantee on tubes,sony aware of the problem but didnot recall these defective sets.

Sony KP-65WS500 65 in.

Check your CRT boards on the end of the tubes for burn spots, and burnt components, check the resistors to make sure they are not shorted, burnt, and they read the correct resistance. Check the diodes to make sure they conduct in one direction only and are not shorted or open.

Green flashes then tv turns off

or a new lamp. you could first replace the lamp.
the screen might work fine for a couple of seconds, but then it fades away or deteriorates. This means the lamp is going bad.

Orange screen...shuts off after 3-5 seconds

I will tell you in a week... I just dropped mine off to a repair guy. Mine is doing the same thing... probably not the same model though.
