Need to get copy of windows vista operating program for my 1200 series printer

If your Lexmark printer is Optra Color 1200 or similar model/series, the driver for windows xp is available on the Lexmark official website. This is the direct download LINK. This is also compatible for Windows Vista and Windows 7, but you'll need it to install in Compatibility Mode. Here's the download page LINK.

Google, [ How do I install drivers and utilities for lexmark p3150 series printer. Another way is to install drivers for lexmark 1200 series, make sure you include the windows version you are useing. Good luck because it's tricky.

Hello. Before installing the driver for Vista, you need to uninstall the XP driver first by going to Start Menu > All Programs/ Programs > Lexmark Series folder > Uninstall. Restart the computer. Also, check if your computer is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system by going to Start Menu > right click on Computer > Properties. You can download the Vista driver on this link: http://bit.ly/bmvu8D . Click on the Microsoft dropdown found below the page. Choose Windows Vista for 32-bit or Windows Vista x64 for 64-bit. Download and install the software. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem. Click Start, Windows Photo Gallery, from that screen, you can select import from scanner. The 1200 series printer should be a choice to select. You are then able to preview the image or document, then press scan. I found this out through the HP support website.

You've encountered 1 of the many issues with Vista. The OS is so gargantuan that Microsoft had to ax many of the drivers that were included with XP.

Copy & paste the above URL into your web browser & that will take you right to the driver download page. Select the red highlighted "Driver Download" for the 1200 series printers. This will send you to the Operating System selection page. Once selected you'll see the red highlighted .exe file. Select "download now". You should see a pop-up asking you to save the file. I like to send downloads to the desktop to facilitate installation of the software. You can later drag & drop it into whatever folder you like.

Make sure to remove the XP drivers before installing the Vista drivers. Also remember to unplug the USB cable from the printer prior to installing the Vista drivers. The installation software will prompt you when to re-install the USB cable.
