If it is an Error 2, Drain the coffee maker and open up the bottom part.
You will see the burner with a metal clip.
There are Two components on the burner. You want one with the brown wire with a white cloth coating. Slide the coating down to expose the Thermistor. Take a small piece of alluminum foil and cover the thermistor. Slide white cover back over the newly covered thermistor and put you coffee maker back together and enjoy your coffe

The filter that you are refering to is the ion filter it can be order from many different online stores. I have found one that the part number is KCM50WF sell the item for $12.99 for 2 and a $1.99 shipping. I asume that you already know how to replace the filter. You might also check your local hardware store as many of them also stock these types of filters. The manual here http://www.kitchenaid.com/assets/pdfs/product/ZUSECARE/P05032002.pdf says that is a sticky button. Unplug the machine. Press each button several times and then plug back in.
