Volume won't display and can't enter menu

My TV, Sharp Aquos 42", won't register a visual display for my volume changing all of a sudden. Usually there is a little strip show it, and now there is nothing. The volume still will go up and down though. Also, it won't let me click into the tv menu, as I tried to get into the menu to see if there was something to change there. Thanks

Volume and menu does not display

I had this problem on my Aquos (LC-46D62U). It was NOT a hardware problem. I recommend turning off the television. Next unplug the television for 5 to 10 seconds. This resets something for the television. Plug it back in and turn on the television. You should now be able to get your volume and other on-screen displays.

Sharp aquos LC 37D43U

If you have satellite, I am assuming you at least have a converter box hooked up. If so, make sure the converter box volume is set at its max. There may even be a volume setting in the converter menu that forces the volume output of the box to always be at full so that you don't get variations in audio when changing channels. Warning...before attempting this, please turn down the volume on your tv to at least the middle setting so you don't blow your tv speakers if this works.
