When trying too get online from ps3 by wireless its saying IP address timed out someone help...!!!

Unplug your wireless router and your modem and after about 30 seconds plug them both back in. Wait about a minute for the devices to reinitialize and try to go back online.

try restarting the router and then try it . then see if u can update ur system by the computer.

Looks like a mac address problem, follow these steps if you feel up to it, or hire someone to do it for you.


Steps:

1. Locate the PS3 MAC address number: Settings - System Settings - System Information
2. Open the software controlling the rounter. This is usually done my typing the router's IP address on your browser. ie http://192.168.0.1
3. Locate a tab for FILTERS
4. Select MAC filters.
5. Enter the PS3 MAC address from previous step as an allowable MAC address.
6. Save entry. At this point router will reset itself.
7. Go back and set up the wireless connection on PS3. Select all settings automatic or EASY as the case maybe.

Try setting a static ip address on the PS3:-

First you need to find a Windows wired or wireless device already connected to the network in order to find out the required settings

Windows XP
1. Click start --> (sometimes settings) --> Control Panel --> Network Connections
2. Double click on the active connection which will say connected underneath
3. Click Support
4. Click Details
5. Now the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS and Alternate DNS which are displayed should be noted.

Windows Vista
1. Click Start --> Control Panel --> Network and Sharing Center
2. Click on "View Status" to the right of your connection
4. Click Details
5. Now the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS and Alternate DNS which are displayed should be noted.

Set these values under "manual settings" in the PS3 but add 1 to the last number for the IP Address as this has to be unique on your network

If you are using a router you may be blocked my the routers firewall. Double check that your IP address and settings are right.

I don't know if you've tried Sony's website, but check this link http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/connectwireless.html and see if anything there helps. It sounds like the PS3 isn't detecting all your settings automatically.
