SOURCE: Battery Fully Charged Camera Won't turn on

Hi

There are several things that could cause this.

1- Check the battery door indicator switch under the battery door and beside the memory card slot. Is the little black switch damaged or missing? Try pressing down gently using a pen it with the door open and then press the power button. Does it turn on?

2- The fuse has blown and needs to be replaced. Offhand I don't recall where it is on the SD600 PCB or how hard it is to solder on a new one (depends on if its tricky to get at or not). Good thing is fuses are really cheap.

3- Other power problem with the PCB due to corrosion or impact damage. The PCB or 'motherboard' of the camera will need to be replaced.

A couple solutions would be to either buy a defective camera online and make one good camera from the two if you can do that sort of thing yourself, or secondly have it repaired by somebody.

Don't bother trying to send the camera to Canon if it is out or warranty (though you can call them and verify what I'm about to say) because they will want $150+ to do the repair for you. Parts are not cheap to buy from them.

I know of one very affordable digital camera repair business... because I own it. The name is Darntoothysam, feel free to check us out, we are on that big auction website also (I don't plug their name for free), our seller ID is 'darntoothysam'. If you Google "darntoothysam" you will find us.

If we can help with your repair then please let us know.

Hope this helps,

Thomas

SOURCE: My battery is fully charged, camera goes on and shuts off.

this generally happens if you have dropped it. when the message comes. try tapping the camera. if it works then you are lucky. if not then you have to change the lens array. it costs about 60$

SOURCE: Camera will not turn on. Battery fully charged;

Hello,
You can give it to an expert for repair, he can repair it for less as there must be just a fuse problem, which can be fixed for a very less amount.

My camera won't turn on? Its been awhile!

Try to fully charge the battery, preferably in an exterior charging unit. If the battery doesn't take a charge properly ( depletes quickly) it can stop a camera from starting.

If you already tried that here is a link to some YouTube repair tips:

I have a Finepix xp50, with a fully charged, correctly installed battery, that won't turn on. It worked intermittantly for awhile. We have 3 batteries for this camera thinking it was the battery

Be sure your battery is in the right way. Try reversing it. My battery has 3 rounded corners and one square corner. The square corner goes against the latch.

Camera won't turn on

If none of the suggested causes helps resolve the issue, then I suggest you bring it in for repair.

Please check the following things when the camera does not turn on.

Possible causes and how to handle them
1. The camera is not on

Turn on the camera. (Operation procedure varies between camera models. Please refer to the camera user guide supplied with your camera.)

2. The rechargeable battery is not fully charged.

Make sure the rechargeable battery is fully charged. If the battery has not been used for an extended period of time, or if it is being used for the first time, it may not be fully charged. In cases like this, fully charge the battery and then discharge it completely in the camera several times to bring the battery back to its normal performance.

The rechargeable battery's capacity diminishes the longer the battery is used. When the battery consumption becomes quicker, the battery life may be at its end. Replace the battery with a new one.

3. The battery terminals are dirty.

When camera does not operate with a brand-new alkaline battery (for cameras that use AA-size batteries) or with a fully charged rechargeable battery, the terminals may be dirty.
Polish the terminals with a dry cloth and make sure the terminals are clean. If the terminals are covered with oil from your skin or similar matter, this may cause poor contact and power may not be fully supplied to the camera.

Also, polish the battery charger terminals with a dry cloth before charging the battery. If the terminals are covered with oil from your skin or similar matter, this may cause poor contact and the battery may not be fully charged.

4. The batteries are not installed correctly (for cameras that use AA-size batteries)

For cameras that use AA-size batteries, multiple batteries are used in one camera. Make sure the direction of each battery matches the direction indicated on the camera. If any of the batteries are improperly inserted, the camera will not operate.

5. The battery cover or CF card (SD card) slot cover is not securely closed

Most cameras have a lock mechanism on the battery cover. The camera will not turn on if the battery cover is not locked or securely closed, or if the CF card (SD card) slot cover is not securely closed. Make sure these covers are securely closed.

If your camera does not operate after checking each of these things, or if there is any visible damage on your camera that could be the cause, please contact the nearest Service Center.

The solution to your problem is simple, Kathrynbax.

The battery never comes in fully charged. It's always charged only so you may be able to check if your camera is working. I suggest, you take out your battery and put it to charge for exactly 90 minutes as the manual says. Then I'm sure you won't face any such problems.

Hope this solves your problem.

Good day!

Does there is something happened when you turn on the camera? If you can heard sound made by the len or the camera try to open but turn off in a second? If so, there is something wrong with the lens, and this how to fix camera lens error will be helpful. Else, if the camera are without any reaction you can check it the joint of the camera to battery is well.
