My compac lap top has windows 7 install we keep getting messages to upgrade driver what does this mean?

it is very simple keep update your lap with windows update and you got all the missing drivers from Microsoft .

Install DriverMax 6.41.0.363 or driveridentifier http://www.driveridentifier.com/desktop.php
and drivers choose to present it requires inscription on site.

I had the same problem but once I installed these two could find the drivers it needed. You can also go to the asus website and search for the model name of your laptop.

I have another problem: after install win7, the batery not charge.
I bought the laptop with Vista, but I installed XP, now installed Windows 7, everything is working perfectly but not charge the battery, I've tried everything: calibration, tested various power plans, I ended up buying a new battery but no result . I think it must be some kind of driver or change something in the BIOS that I lack despite having returned to install XP and Vista and battery re-charging without problem. if you can help me send email [email protected]

you are unable to upgrade for Windows XP to 7, you have to do a fresh install which involves a format which will mean you will lose all of your data unless you back it up

if you are running Vista you cannot upgrade from Vista 64bit to 7 32bit, again you have to do a fresh install


to do a fresh install insert the Windows disc and reboot your computer, make sure your computer has it's boot priority set to
1. DVD Drive
2. HDD

and if that's done correctly just follow the prompts to install windows.

I'm assuming that you are upgrading XP to Win 7 just a guess. You have to download the upgrade advisor from Microsoft first it will set the upgrade in motion. Click Here to get the upgrade download. If you have computer experience with computer upgrading there are other ways to go about it however you will have to completely wipe the drive and set the disc in the drive and make sure it boots to DVD or CD ROM as the first boot. So if you are not good at this go with the advisor purchase a legal copy of Win 7 so that you have a legal serial.
Then you may have to hunt for a driver or two. Win 7 is usually great with upgrading drivers during the install make sure that you are online doing the upgrade. I hope this assists you. If you have the original disc for the lap top it has all of the drivers and software that came with your purchase. If you have issues with drivers just use the drivers discs that came with your computer to re-install them. Great question!

The CD/DVD driver is a software that is automatically picked and its driver is installed automatically as they are part of the Windows Operating system. Most probably your hardware CD/DVD ROM has been worn out.

mcdevito75 here, Hope I can help, From Start, click onto control board, the system devices, the speech and audio and make sure the sound is on. It"s possible the upgrade turned of your lap tops sound and has to be put back on.

I will recommend that you download and run the free Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. It helps find issues with your computer’s hardware, devices that might affect installing Windows 7. Go to the Windows 7 Compatibility Center find direct links to drivers, updates, and downloads.

Ok go to the link below, find you exact, model and get the exact driver you will need. Download and install do this install, as Administrator.

I have seen this type of problem before, the only real way around it is to install a fresh copy of windows 7 not to upgrade, you will receive a message that asks you if you want to keep the previous windows in a folder called old windows, from there you will be able to access all your old files and programs, be aware though some programs may not work on windows 7, and you may need to have updated drivers for the systems peripherals. So when you run the windows 7 disk choose clean install and go from there. i hope this helps

1) you have to make sure that you have ALL the required Windows 7 drivers for your Laptop AND additional devices/application (eg. Wifi adapter, Modems, USB DTV, External Keyboard, etc). 2) get and install a 'Windows 7 UPGRADE' for your current Operating system. (Check for free upgrade?) 3) Windows XP mode (and native Virtual PC) is only available if you upgrade to the Professional or Ultimate versions AND your CPU and BIOS support 'Hardware Virtualization' ... even my Intel Dual Core T4200 processor does not support this feature!!!
