The Sony DSC-H2 and DSC-H5 have a terrible shutter button design and the tiny little "bubble" that is responsible for the "half press focus" can be easily damaged.

Something in the lens unit is broken. The unit can't be fixed but needs to be replaced with a new or unit unit. A new lens unit would cost about half the price of the camera though...

1.Try initializing the Camera.To initialize the Camera, select the "Initialize" option under the "Setup 1" Menu of the Camera.

2.Even if the flash is set to always ON, the flash will still not work in the following circumstances:

* When shooting MPEG movies.
* When shooting in the Twilight or Handheld Twilight mode.
* If shooting with the Burst or Multi Burst mode.
* Shooting with Sweep Panorama.
* Shooting with the Fireworks or High Sensitivity mode.
* If an external flash is connected.

Having placed your jewellery on a plain blue background:
1 - Switch on.
2 - Set top dial to "Shooting with automatic settings" (green camera icon)
3 - Press "Close-up shooting" (tulip icon on left of lower dial.
4 - Check "Flash" is on (lightning icon on right of lower dial).
5 - Stand over your display. Be as steady as possible and shoot!

try taking the batteries out

Vertical light in the frame was the equalize the brightness of the frame to shoot 2 , 3 sometime 1 time for shooting object /don't shoot 2 or three frame very dark result.

shoot mine is doing that too, i thought i was just losing my mind

this may be a fault or simply you not quiet fully familiar with the camera - fully read the manual-including the more comprehensive on on the software disk. I suspect perhaps it is you- if you can conpose the scene in the un-focussed mode and it camera focusses as the shutter is closed thats OK- also it may be a sensitivity thing in the camera A look on the Pentax website technical help may be worthwhile.
