Actually we could not open PDF files in MS Word. And the PDF files are non-editable.
You could easily convert the PDF into word for revising purpose. If the file is not large, you could try some free online converting service. Or I would like to introduce a free tool I am currently using, its name is Nemo PDF to Word.

You will lose a lot of document format if you open a pdf file in word. I suggest that you use an appropriate pdf editor, like Adobe Acrobat full. It has all the features that you need to edit, create pdf files, also export doc files to pdf

Scan a document into Word

Hello

Notepad uses the file extension ".txt"

You can open this file in Word and then choose "Save As" and change it to the Word format (.doc or .docx).

I would assume the scanning feature is using OCR (optical character recognition) and, after the scan, the default is to save it in a .txt format so it will open in almost any computer.

You can set your computer to use Word to open .TXT files automatically. You would still have to choose the "Save As" and change the format to Word before you can make meaningful editing changes (elaborate fonts, stationary, etc.) as .TXT files have only the most basic formatting available.

How to use Notepad++vs6.4.2

The easiest way to open a new document is to press Ctrl and N together. Then press Ctrl + S to save the file. The default title will be new with a number. Press Ctrl+Alt+S to get the File Save As option to rename your document. Use the Find and replace command to remove the desired text (Ctrl+H from the keyboad). NotePad++ can have a Menu Bar and Tool Bar displayed or hide them. Many like to use the keyboard commands and hide the toolbars. If the Menu Bar is open, File > New. From the Tools bar, click on the page symbol with the green + on the left side of the bar.
The full manual is available as a compressed PDF or a compressed HTML file. See: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/notepad-plus/index.php?title=NP%2B%2B_Guides . For either file, you will need to use your preferred zip program to extract the file. (In most Windows versions, right click on the file after saving it to the Desktop or your Downloads directory and choose Extract All.) Then use Adobe Reader or a similar program to read the PDF manual. Use your preferred browser to read the HTML version. A full list of the keyboard commands is available here: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/notepad-plus/index.php?title=Keyboard_And_Mouse_Shortcuts .
Nearly any editor will do what you want to do. In Windows, the Notepad may not hold enough lines for this. WordPad probably would work (that's the default .DOC reader). Just remember to save as plain text if you don't want to have an Rich Text Formatted document.
I hope this helps.

Word docs open with a blank page.

Do your doc open correctly if you open Word first (open Word first, select FILE - OPEN and then the file, the DOC file opens)?

You can also open your word doc with IE or Firefox:
Launch IE, then at the File Menu, choose "Open" and browse to the Word File. You can also try Firefox the same way (or right click the doc and choose open with and find IE)

make sure your text wasn't accidently changed to white-then it would look like a blank page, see if you can highlight the text.

The files may have been saved as Macro enabled docs. Right click on one of the documents, click Save As. Choose Save As a normal doc. The next time you open it, it should open correctly.

This is a tough one

How can i type a paper on my macbook?

The same way you do on a pc- use a word editing program!
All joking aside, you can use Word (if you have the Mac version of Office installed), or you could install Open Office (open source suite of programs that do the same thing as word- except the cost is nothing instead of $$$)
Bar that, you could use the equivalent to Notepad (most systems have a text editor that is very bare-bones, but would get the job done.)

Why do my database files open up in notepad whenever I click it, is this normal? help please...

You have notepad set as your default text reader. If you have Word installed use that as your default. So go in set up your default programs you can do this by going to setup default programs in the start menu when you get there look for your default programs for .doc files etc and set it to open up using Word or whatever Word program you have other than notepad. It will not harm your computer if you open .doc or .txt files using notepad.

If you want a free Word Document for Office files or for writing purposes go to Open Office it is a free word processor Click Here, that does not cost anything and will even open most Microsoft Office documents as well. Thanks for using FixYa! John
