The screen of my Sansa Clip 2GB showed illegible signs two days ago when I last played it, but I could get songs playing. Through my computer I then cleared all playlists, deleted the songs etc. Then put songs back on through Windows Media player. But now the player's screen keeps black (the blue rings lights up though when I ) and I cannot play songs. Correction, now the blue ring does not light up anymore, when I switch the device on. Also, when I use WMP or Windows Explorer, it cannot find the Sansa Clip. I downloaded the firmware updater, but it cannot find a player to update either. This looks like a terminal case. Is it? Please help!

Hello,

Restoring your player can be done in 2 main steps:
>>1. For updating the firmware, the player should be switched to MSC mode.
This could be done through the menu. When not knowing what the display shows, use the forcing method in next link:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61/sno/0
See the Sansa Clip steps below:
1. Turn device OFF.
2. Slide the Hold switch down to Lock (orange color showing).
3. Press and hold the center button while connecting the device to the PC.
<<

>> 2. Once connected in MSC mode you can use the firmware updater when having Windows operating system, see next page:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/300/kw/firmware%20updater/r_id/101834
<<

For others who have MAC or Linux operating system you can not use the firmware updater: firmware should be manually downloaded from Sansa Forums and installed afterwards:

If this was helpful I'd appreciate your answer.

Sansa Clip won't turn off right? push up power button and hold it for 10 to 20 second, your device will turn off now.
After that, you should update your new firmware from sandisk forum, you should check Sansa Clip or Sansa Clip+ from the following web,

My Sansa Clip lost all the music I had stored. It

You go to Settings, check System Info, check number of songs in there. If they are existing, you should change to MTP or MSC to play it. Or go to Settings, Reset All, Yes. Try it.
If you accidentally formatted it, can't restore them.

My sansa clip won't play the songs I loaded on!

I've had this happen a couple of times in the last 6 months. You can get it to play again by chosing the format option from the settings menu. Of course, then you've lost everything you had loaded on to it. Download your music/audio books again and they will play.

Sansa Clip 2gb only plays parts of songs

The songs you have loaded have a restrictive license on them that only allows full playback on a computer, not on an mp3 player. If you only download songs in mp3 format, you will never have this problem.

Switch the player from USB to either Auto or MTP mode. Or, you can transfer ALL songs in the manner you have just described. Either way.

Sansa 2gb sync

You must synchronize this player to rhapsody at least once every 30 days - if you ever cancel your subscription, the songs will cease to function. And you thought you were getting a deal.
