You need to do a new windows setup, erasing completely existing system. I do not know if you can do this from Vista upgrade. You may need to install from a bootable Windows setup disk first, and then install vista upgrade. Once you install the system you may need to download drivers. Here is Toshiba drivers page.

regards.

Did you do ALL your windows update before the Service Pack? That SP has been out for years? Doesn't your laptop have Windows Updates set to Auto? Choose one or the other, Vista or Win 7 and do a Full Install.

Reset Acer Aspire X3200 To Factory Setting

Assuming the restore partition is intact, boot the machine and press and hold F10 and ALT at the same time. If the partition is intact, you should be brought to a restore menu and given the option to restore to factory settings. If this doesn't work, you may have corrupted the restore partition and will need disks to install an operating system. If you created Rescue Disks in Vista, simply load the 1st disk and reboot.

Received OXCO1aOO1d |registry/machine/components/derivedata/ and can't reboot computer from recovery disk or anything!

Was this error by any chance received after you tried to upgrade VISTA to SP1 or SP2 (service pack 1 or 2)? I had the same problem. After spending two hours with Microsoft Online Support, the final solution was to restore the factory default with a recovery option, typically from the restore D: hard drive or recovery disks. In my case, I pressed the F8 key during startup to activate the restore option from the D: drive. Lost all my data, but at least the computer worked like it did when it came from the factory. Hope this helps.

How do i factory restore my toshoba laptop?

The newer Toshiba laptops don't come with a recover disk, you are expected to make your own DVD or CD's after you first power up and verify the operating system is good. If you didn't make the backup, you will have to call Toshiba and have them send you a system disk.

Restore backup files

You should have everything saved ("backed up") on dvds now. Your next step is to pop in the restore discs that came with the computer unless you have a vista machine that isn't a toshiba or dell because vista machines (like HP) makes you create your own.

pop in your disc, boot to cd, and press next a few times... it will delete everything and get the pc back to the first day you bought it.
