Have a 'phillips magnavox smart plus' series 32 inch. about 6 or so years old. perfect picture and sound then BAM! nothing. any suggestions? just time for a new tv? tried unplugging and reseting, but nothing. everything else connected to the same surge protector works and i've tried to switch out the plugs to make sure it wasn't a bad connection.
I was watching tv, and it just went off, and would sound like it was trying to turn back on (by itself) and after that all i heard were clicks, as if it was turning on and off. It wasnt the outlet, everything around it was working fine, and the dvd player was not affected.I was watching tv, and it just went off, and would sound like it was trying to turn back on (by itself) and after that all i heard were clicks, as if it was turning on and off. This is a power supply issue. Probably in the high voltage stages. Maybe a fuse, regulator IC, or Horiz. Output transistor or all of them. If you don't know anything about TV repair, you should take it to a shop that will provide an estimate to you.

RCA Entertainment Series 32" Plus Gold, GEMSTAR, xbox ready has been in the shop twice so far. Transformer replaced and 6 months later the picture suddenly had horizontal white lines that gradually spaced apart more from top to bottom and it had a gray hue and fuzzy, but I still watched it for 3 months that way. Today I turned it on and about a minute later I heard a loud crackling sound coming from the back and the picture disappeared, screen went black. Is it worth fixing again? Please contact me at [email protected]
remove the cover and observe the source of the light. if its in the picture tube it can be fixed with a picture rejuvonator. if its a cracked solder joint a soldering iron and solder will fix it.
I have a Smart Series 32" Phillips-Magnovox TV I bought april '99. Around July 4 weekend 2008 it decided it just does not want to come on any more! Was working just fine before that...I can not find my manual. Any suggestions?
The first thing is to check to see if the fuse is blown,if so replace with a 5 amp fuse, fuse is located near were the power cord connects to the board, make sure set is disconnected from power.
That usually means a problem in the start up or deflection circuits. Diode, Horizontal ouput or driver transformer. What Chassis is this set, and I will be ableto give you some better information. Rca , GE and phillips need to be diagnosedwith the chassis number. Let me know the chassis.
