SOURCE: Urgent help
PLEASE let me help...1) If you ask a large parts supplier about
OEM parts (Original Equipment Mfr.)the best quality is by the piece with mfr # on the bag...Hitachi STK392-110 is now subbed
and upgraded to STK394-160 with Hitachi # CZ 01341 ON THE
PACKAGE ! They are the best and WILL NOT BURN THE
CURRENT LIMITING RESISTORS UP ! Kit IC's are not always
first QUALITY, as you are fnding out.So, change the IC's with
two # CZ 01341 HITACHI ON THE BAG and you will not burn
any more resistors ! 2) Forget about the DCU and yokes........
Let me know how it goes......................T.

They have it, they just list it as a 1-4 watt resistor, just order two of the 1-4 watt resistors and they will send a order confirmation inquireing which rating you need for those two items within minutes of your order.
SOURCE: 1.5 ohm resistor rk 46 keeps blowing
You should have put the original OEM STK's in the set - if your set had 110's or 120s put those chips only. Do not risk different chips with different specs/amps/ etc....when you do resistors blow as you have discovered.

I have no experience at tv repair but I solved this problem and you can too. I bought 2 stk 392-150 chips made by sanyo on ebay for $30. I bought a low life jewelers loupe which is a sort of cap with different lens pieces out on the end of the bill for $10 on ebay. I bought a soldering iron and the smallest diameter silver solder and a little suction bulb and heat sink grease from radio shack for $20.
Take the back off tv. Locate circuit board with ics. remove screws that hold board . there are several wire bridges, snap these apart also. number connections with marker, undo connections. you will note that this board is connected to 3 crts by cable, do not disconnect this cable! This board must remain connected to crts by this cable! (so much for tv repair.com telling you how easy you can remove the board and solder it in your workshop) this board must remain connected to the crts, you can flip the board upside
down but all work must be done at back of tv
undo screws on ics. pry ics loose from heatsink. put on jewlwers loupe then turn board over and heat up each ic pin then **** molten solder into suction bulb. each ic has 19 pins. remove old ruined ics ( shame on Hitachi) my tv was only 3 years old! Put gob of heatsink grease on new ic, spread with razor blade, not to thick or thin, stick new ic thru holes in board and screw to heatsink . solder all pins to circuit board. look at the resistors that are close to the ics. if one is burned black it will have to be replaced, they act as circuit breakers and will burn out to protect other parts of the tv. usually the resistors are fine it was just the cheapshit hitachi ics that were bad.
Put everything back together and turn on tv for 20 min. after 20 min do the magic focus. your tv should focus up and be good as new. I have fixed several hitachi 51g500a in this way. Good luck!
