look on your computer under either My Videos or My Documents and see if you find the FLIPSHARE DATA file. You can open that file and then see 3 files, videos, flipshare and previews. If you have an external hard drive, back all these up on that. If you don't, then try copying and pasting all three files or the one flipshare Data file somewhere else on your computer away from My Videos and my documents. that way when you uninstall the flipshare software it won't take those files with it, or shouldn't. then when you reinstall all, if the files remained, fine, if not copy and paste from wherever you stored them back to where they originally were stored by Flipshare. Your other choice is to take the videos you have on computer, put them into Windows Live Movie Maker and make a movie of them onto DVD. then you'll have them for sure. Just open the movie maker click on Add Videos & Photos and find the Flipshare Data file, then the video file and choose which ones to make your DVD. here's link to movie maker: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials
you do have to create a name and login, but its all free and wonderful! just don't make your DVDs too large remember a regular disk holds 4.7GB 120 min. Have fun.

FlipVideo software - FlipShare

I’ve had my Flip Video Pure Digital since the summer of 2007. The only problem I’ve ever had with it was the software, both the original as well as the upgrades. The current upgrade crashed within the first two minutes every time I opened it. I was never able to process a single video with it. Like you, I became extremely frustrated and sent an email to customer service. Expecting at least a 24 hour delay in response, I started combing the Internet looking for other options. In short, on the first day I received three very pleasant and timely responses from Flip Video’s support staff, but nothing worked; they finally offered to call me on the phone. By then, however, I had come up with a solution that works great for me. I use Win Vista, so don’t know how this would work on other os’s. (1) Format your camera (save all videos on it before formatting because EVERYTHING disappears from the drive). (2) Shoot your video. (3) Re-connect your camera to your computer. (4) A pop up message asks you if you want to import the videos; click yes. After importing my videos, I close that program and open up my solvergmm (avi trimmer freeware: http://www.solveigmm.com/?Products&id=AVITrimmer) and cut the front and back edges of the video. I can then save the video to the directory of my choice or watch it from that program. It’s extremely simple and gives me pretty much everything that the FlipShare software aspired to give me. Also, when I delete the videos from the camera I get back my complete 60 minutes instead of the time decay one gets with Flip Video’s software. Hope this helps others – it made my day!

Flip Ultra HD and Mac Os X -- version 10.5 Problems installing FlipShare Help! When I try to install Flip for Mac, it freezes in mid-installation, and never closes. It does install a Flipshare...

I had the same issue with my new ultra hd and my 2008 imac. Basically, I just downloaded flipshare from pure digital's website and all is good. Another problem I have run into is that when I first plug the camera in, it asks if I want to update the cameras software, when I click 'yes', it gives the error, "unable to update camera software."
Last but least, Imovie 08 gives an error when I try to import the movies. No biggie, I just double click on the "dcim" folder in the flip video folder of the camera and I can drag the videos to my desktop, then into Imovie.
So far, not the seamless experience I was expecting, as this unit is supposed to be 100% compatible with mac's.

Flip software (Flip Share) quits unexpectedly on my Mac 10.5.6

HERE IS WHAT FLIP VIDEO SENT FOR A FIX:
Dear Suzie,

Thank you for contacting us.

We will need to try to uninstall and reinstall the FlipShare program on your Macintosh computer. To do this please try the following:

1. Please open your HD and in the search field type “3ivx”. Drag all 3ivx files into your trash can, and empty it. To uninstall FlipShare on your Mac, please go to MacIntosh HD > Library > Application > Support > Flip Video > FlipShare Uninstaller
2. Reboot the computer

If you are receiving the message, "Unable to update database file," when upgrading to FlipShare 5.6, there may be a corrupted file within your existing FlipShare database.

Please try the following to upgrade to the current version of FlipShare and import your videos into the application.

1. Copy your entire FlipShare Data folder onto your desktop or another drive
- the FlipShare Data folder can be found in "Username">Movies>Flip Share Data>
- ensure that you have copied all of the contents of the FlipShare Data folder and have secured a complete back-up of this file

2. Delete the FlipShare Data folder from your "Username">Movies>Flip Share Data>

3. Uninstall FlipShare
- MacIntosh HD > Library > Application Support > Pure Digital Technologies > FlipShare Uninstaller

4. Reboot your computer

5. Click on the link and follow the on-screen instructions to install FlipShare 5.6 onto your computer

For Macintosh systems (including Snow Leopard): http://download.theflip.com/update.theflip.com/app/fvsw/561/update/Setup_FlipShare.dmg

6. Once FlipShare 5.6 has fully installed, launch the program

7. Go to the Help directory and choose "Recover other FlipShare files..."

8. Click Proceed and select the Videos folder of the drive where you saved your FlipShare Data folder
- the FlipShare Data recovery tool will import your videos into FlipShare

Should the issue persist, please do not hesitate to contact us again so we may further troubleshoot.

Thank you,

Video Recording in Canon DC20

U can use Nero, where you create your own dvd, click on import disc. There will be a item, select it and click import disc. The file will be stored at the default nero folder witch usualy is under "My Document's" an then under "Nero" then "Imported" then a folder wih the date of import will provide you with the videos. This is how i did it until it started to eritate me, because your dvd should not be scrached in any way, the program will terminate if it cant import that piece of video.
I hope this could help you...
