Sony BM-850T2 -- Continues after lifting foot from pedal

It sounds to me that you might have a mechanical problem in the machine. I am not familiar with this machine, but I have worked on lots of tape machines. The belts and rubber pieces can get slick or stretched causing problems.

Probably just needs a new belt.

This Sony model has a scan feature that reads index info on the tape. If the tape is recorded on a non Sony unit, you may have this issue. To turn this off, Hold both the Stop and Reset buttons together for about 5 seconds. The display will now only show the counter, no indexs, and your problem should be resolved. If you lose power, you will need to do this again.

There is a gear that wears causing the grinding noise. This can cause the take up reel to stop causing distortion. You need to send it in for repair.

your foot pedal is just like an accelerator , lifting and pressing the foot increases and decreases the speed ,but if this does not happen ,,change your foot pedal

Hello on the right side of unit is a switch for transcribe make sure is on the on position you are going to see on Deck A only lines on display, put your tape on Deck B is the only side that transcribes if the pedal does not respond you probably have a broken pedal here is one in a great price
