Whirlpool side byside refrigerator ice maker not working

Make sure freezer temp is 10 degrees or less. Is the water solenoid filling the tray? If there is ice in the tray perhaps the tray heating element is open.

Easiest fix is to replace the unit with a new one - cost about 40 bucks on ebay.

How do I stop my ice maker water filler hose from freezing - which stops water from filling the tray?

This problem is caused by a defective water control valve that does not stop leaking water like a dripping faucet. This causes water to freeze in the water fill tube thus blocking fill of ice tray. Replace water control valve.

Possibly the water control valve is leaking when shut off, and water constantly drips into the ice tray fill tube. When this happens, the fill tube becomes clogged with ice, and the ice tray does not fill. The ice tray will cycle often, because there is no water in the tray, but will remain empty. If this is the case, the water control valve at the bottom rear of the refrigerator will have to be replaced.

Ice tray won"t fill with

Ice maker stopped making ice. For this problem you have check few things. First thing, is the water filling in the ice maker chamber and then ice maker not making ice? Or, the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber so it's not making ice. If the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber then it's clear that ice is not getting made due to no water in the chamber. For no water filling, the problem is either water supply valve turned off so water is not filling. Turn on the water supply and it will fill. But if the water supply is turned on then the other possibility is ice blockage in the water fill tube. There is a tube from which the water runs and enters the ice maker chamber. If this tube is blocked then water will not enter the chamber. The tube needs to be defrosted, by using hair dryer. This procedure melts the ice collected in the tube and water starts running again. But if water fill tube is completely clear and no ice blockage or any other blockage. Then other possibility is water valve at the back of ice maker unit. This water valve is for letting the water in the ice maker. The water valve open only for 7 seconds and in this time the water fills in the ice maker chamber and then water valve closes and the same procedure runs again in the next water filling cycle.------- For your information I will mention that there are two valves. One is the main valve the back of the fridge section. This main valve lets the water enter the refrigerator and other valve is at the back of ice-maker section. This other valve lets the water to enter the ice maker. In most of the cases the fault is water valve at the back of ice maker section. ------------- The other above possibilities which I gave you is water not filling in ice-maker chamber so it's not making ice. But now consider that water is filling in ice maker chamber but it's still not making ice. Then the problem is ice maker unit itself. This unit is controlled by main board. But in most cases if water is filling the ice maker but it's not making ice then its faulty ice maker unit. So see if the problem is water not entering the ice maker then the water fill tube is frosted by ice or the water valve at the back of ice maker is faulty. Replace the valve. ------------

You can get required parts from sears part direct online site or from repairclinic.com site.

This will help. Thanks. Helpmech.

Maytag sidebyside MSD2758DRW ice maker won't make ice

Hi,

If the ice maker no longer make ice, check the following.

Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on.

On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice.

Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

Thanks

My ice maker is not working when water goes in to fill it up..its going all over freezer on to the floor

There is a tube in the back of the freezer where the water comes in and then filters down into the ice maker. This is a simple task. What we need to do is check this tube and surrounding area.

Is there a tube in the back for the water to flow into the ice maker? If not the water will most definitely spew and run everywhere.

If there is a tube, does it have a hole? Does it have ice in it? If so we need to free the tube of the obstruction or replace the tube.

If the water is coming down the tube into the ice maker, how is it escaping the ice maker? The tube rests in a cup that the water drains downwards slowly filling up the ice tray. We need to inspect this area for anything that may leak water.

These scenarios should cover the basics plus extra. If you need further help let me know, but this should get the problem figured out :) good luck!

Ice maker stopped dropping ice or even making ice.

Try using a hair dryer to thaw out the rubber tubing leading to the ice tray. On mine, I opened up the front door to the icemaker and found the rubber tubing leading in. I squeazed it, it felt frozen, so I applied heat. Water began dripping out, the area thawed, and I had ice again within a short period of time.

Whirlpool GS6SHAXMQ Side by Side Refrigerator - Ice Maker Problem

This happened to me after i had to move the freezer and it was unplugged for a while. When it was plugged back in the ice maker would not work.

Assuming both the ice maker itself and the rear water AC solenoid switch are actually not broken and are functional, and you are getting water from front door dispenser, then check the inside supply tube (black) is not frozen and blocked. Check with q-tip or feel to see if frozen.

If supply tube is frozen, thaw by holding up small full clear glass of heated water placing the frozen tube into the heated water. The clear glass will allow you to see when ice slips out.

Next try resetting the freeze cycle. Turn off the ice maker switch, remove the maker by carefully disconnecting the inside power cord. You will need to remove the inside door flap. Rinse the maker with warm water, allow to come to room temp.

Re-install maker, connect power cord. Turn on ice maker switch. Make sure Infrared sensor is not blocked. Now wait for temp change and listen for water to fill tray. It took maybe ten minutes for me. You will be able to hear the water fill with the door closed.

Again, this assumes nothing is actually broken.

This worked for me. Good luck.

Water not filling up the icemaker

it sounds as tho you do have solenoid prob.but it could also be an ice over sit at your water inlet tube that is situated near icemaker.
