Breitling Colt Kinetic Watch - not working

The watch is 2 years old and I only wear it occasionally. It has usually stopped when I get it out the box but when I put it on the wrist is kicks in. However I now no longer works. Any ideas?

The Breitling Colt is either an automatic or a quartz (super quartz.) It sounds like you have an automatic and it needs to be wound up (wind the crown 40 revolutions) if it's been sitting for over 40 hours and has stopped. A gentle shake may cause it to tick. However, it should be wound if it has been used in a while. If it stops shortly after winding it up, then the watch most likely needs to be serviced. Take it to an authorized dealer. You may still be in warranty because the watch is only 2 years old. Have it examined soon if it's causing you problems. Good luck.

I read the instructions for a similar type of watch and while the battery will keep the watch "alive" for some months when not in use, eventually the battery dies.

Since it is a kinetic watch the instructions I read said that you should gently shake the watch about 500 times to recharge the battery!

If you give it a good shake and then wear it for a few days, it should recharge itself, although it may have forgotten the time and may need re-setting.

Good luck!

10 year old Seiko Kinetic (model5M62-0B00) blue face. Last week stopped and after some shaking started again but seconds moved in 2 sec intervals for a few hours. Went OK for a week and again last night...

After 10 years it will be likely that the Kinetic capacitor will need upgrading. Your watch is designed to tick in two second intervals to tell you the power is very low. The power button will work again when it has some power to show. Yorkshire Watches www,yorkshirewatches.co.uk can do the upgrade for you if your in the UK. Give them a ring.

Breitling has a weird noise when shaken (sounds mechanical) and seconds hand wont work (usually it does if you move watch)

Sounds pretty serious!

The most likely thing to go wrong is the balance wheel has become dislodged. The most likely cause of this is being dropped onto ahard surface.

It needs to go to a Brietling dealer for repair.

I don't know how to change the date on my breitling colt

Their web site does not give any user manuals but most watches change the date by pulling out the crown to position 2 (1 is the normal home position, 3 is fully out and 2 is inbetween the two) and rotate the crown to change date.

This quality of watch may require you to turn the crown wheel anticlockwise before pulling it out (extra seal).

If this does not work them go to http://www.breitling.com/en/index.php#/models/aeromarine/chrono-colt/ and using the menu on the left, locate their nearest service center and contact them. I fell sure that they will be only too happy to explain the procedure for changing the date.

Stopped working and all digital figures displayed!

If the display is not dim the battery is probably OK. Try removing the battery, test it anyway, and after a minute or two replace it (I'd use a new one anyway) and see if the problem is cleared. Sometimes just power cycling will "reboot" the watch. If that doesn't do it I'm afraid it will need to visit a Breitling service center.

How can i replace the battery on a Breitling

I suggest that you got to "www.breitling.com" and after getting past the pretty pictures you click on "maintenance centers" and find the one nearest you.

You can get into difficulty replacing batteries and it is not worth the risk for the small cost saving.

One fairly frequent cry for help is because the owner can't get the back on again. Also since watches frequently include gaskets to keep water out, difficulty can be experienced in fitting the back and maintaining the seal.

What battery number and type for a colt chrono

Hi,
Depends on the year. Google however is your friend Google Breitling Source and the watch type and see which year yours is.
Assuming its a 2006 to 2010 model it takes a 394 battery. I suggest a google to Breitling source and look in the watch archives there.

Consider sending it to breitling UK, you have a watch worth at least many hundreds of pounds that is waterproof. If you nip down the local muppets he will change the battery and charge you GBP20 not GBP70 but he will not change the case seals or pressure test the watch to ensure the seals are doing their job. Worst case you write off the watch when it gets wet or when you next get sweaty which is the same thing.
Specify you want the battery change service only and thats what Breitling do.

Good luck whatever you do.

My breitling chronomat stops working even while its in a watch winder.

Every mechanical watch must be serviced within 2 - 7 years depending on what movement is is fitted.
Find your nearest watch repair shop and as for overhaul ( this is how we call full service of any watch).
Reasons for stopping can be numerous, but usually it is gummed oil, dust particles, and wear and tear.

Breitling watch move fast

No matter what is your watch movement (quartz or mechanical) it can be adjusted to keep time properly.
Bring it to your nearest watchmaker and the problem will be solved.
9 sec a day is far too much for Breitling.
