TT GO700 don't start after bootloader update. How can I solve?

After update the bootoader V5.5259, NaveCore V9.026 and Maps WCEurope V8.40.2563, the TT works, but the menus are not all there. I go back with a backup to start situation, with bootloader V5.5010, Navecore V 8.002 and Maps WCE V8.05.1801. The TT stops in the screen with the TT hands and refuse to start. My question: how can I solve this problem, f.i. clean the bootloader in the 64mB RAM?

SOURCE: Updates problem

Well if it won't provide any updates if a: your device is up to date or b: it has already downloaded all the relevant updates recently. To solve the second issue, you can simply rename the folder 'TomTom' under my documents to 'TomTomOLD', rerun HOME to force it to check for and redownload any recent updates.

How do I update my maps on my Tom Tom

plug into your computer and download the update. Your program on the PC will upload for you to the TT. You need to get the free system updates too from TT while you are at it.

My tomtom go 700 is about 5 years old and i need to update the maps how do i start?

1.First of all check that TOMTOM actually still support this product and only perform updates using a wired network connection - WIFI can drop out and corrupt the downloads
2.Then see if they actually are supplying a new map for the 700
3.Without activating TOMTOM Home, plug your GO700 into your PC and let it recognise the 'drive assignment'
4.Take a FULL backup of all files on the TOMTOM 2Gb disk on your PC NOTE: this is totally separate and additional to any backups you might make with TOMTOM Home.
5.Disconnect your TOMTOM
6.Start your TOMTOM Home software and perform an update check from the 'help' drop down menu
7.Once you have this updated connect your TOMTOM
8.Perform a full backup again with the TOMTOM Home software
9.Search using TOMTOM Home for any GO700 application software updates and install these (NOTE - ONLY INSTALL THE APPLICATION UPDATES)
10.Reboot your GO700 to make sure that it works with any application updates
11.Re-connect your TOMTOM and this time perform a search for map updates to purchase and follow the instructions.
12.It is very likely that TOMTOM Home will say that there is not enough space on the drive to install the new map, it will follow an automatic process to remove your old map and then install the new one that you have purchased on lne from TOMTOM.
13. If Home has installed your new map correctly, when you log off and disconnect your GO700 it should then initialise - the long time bar rebuidling the maps and then start up normally. It can be necessary to reset your GO700 using the rest button under the base.

GOOD LUCK, This is currently a very messy process but one which seems to work for recovering the GO700 in the event of a failure, TOMTOM have been hopeless for me in getting any maps installed on a GO700, so this is my way of getting round their lousy support service.

Memory card not recognizing

Try this. Connect you tt 510 to the computer and then turn it on in that order. If tt home starts up just exit out of it. Make a backup of the tt's drive (make a new folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the tt into the folder). THIS IS IMPORTANT. DO NOT MAKE A BACKUP USING TT HOME!!! This will take awhile so be patient. After you have made the backup reformat your tt (this will wipe the card clean). After reformatting your device open tt home it will reload your os. This will take two times of updating to get you to navcore 7.9XX. After this has finished go to your backup and copy and paste the maps and bmp's (there are three bmp's) back onto the root of your device (instead of opening your drive just hover over the drive letter and right click the paste). You should be good to go.
Hope this helps

TomTom go 720

If you have two devices you must have two email address. One for each device. This is the way tt home works. Another way to get around it is to open tt home preferances and in general preferances make sure remember my password is not checked. Sometimes a popup will want you to log in just click not this time at the bottom left cornor and then tt home will go on and update your device without loging in.
Hope this helps

There a two things you must do. Update the TT5 software to TT 5.1. http://www.tomtom.com/support/rightnow.php?Page=http://62.250.17.58/cgi-bin/ uk.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3361 ... and then you need to buy the complete maps for TT NAVIGATOR 5. They are priced at 199 Euro but with the voucher you get a 70 Euro discount. Then it is just installing the new maps and be on your way.
