I was trying to take picture from my D90 with kit lens of 18-105mm. But was unable to shoot any photos. Shutter release was disable (unable to press), when look thru viewfinder, it was quite dark (seems like not enuf of light coming in). Trying to adjust the apenture/ shutter speed, wouldnt help. At the same time also found out i was unable to remove the lens from camera body. Appreciate if anyone can give me some advice on it.
You must try to remove the lens that lens have some electric contacts and if you set the lens in wrong position that contacts give to the camera some error message
Have you tried with another lens ?
If is the same problem with another lens, you should find an expert that can take a close look to your camera.
If I was in your place , I try to force remove the lens but you have to ensured that release button is fully pushed.
First , try to see if the white dot from the kit lens is positioned exactly up and centered (above pop up flash)
This position confirm that your lens was loaded correctly and the jammed problem is somewhere else, maybe on released button. probably is not fully acted to unlock the lens.
If the white dot is not right up and exactly in the middle , this men you was load the lens in wrong position.
Can you remember the position of white dot from the lens was in the same position with white dot from the camera body before to slide lens ?
remember !!! to release the lens , you have to rotate in the same direction like analog clock (clockwise)
And try to not force very hard. You will have to decide by own how much power to apply when you will twist the lens.
Im having exactly the same problem. Did you manage to fix it? My lens is much darker than it normally is and my lens is jammed on. I press the release button but just can't get it to turn despite having tried it with more force than it has ever required before.
I have the exact same problem here with my d90, any progress? lemme know please

There isn't any error message showed on the control panel or in the viewfinder. And the lens have been attached to my camera for at least a week which i have no problem on shooting photos before. Only attempt to remove when the problem occurred last night. A fren has press the "fn button" and try to shoot just before the problem occurred. Anything to do with it?
I can't even remove the lens from the camera, so how to try with another lens?! It seem like the kit lens was jamed / stucked. Should i sent my camera to Nikon service center?
