Dell Inspiron 8600 Wireless connection driver Problem
Hi I bought a Dell Inspiron 8600 Lap top computer second hand.
I'm trying to setup wireless using a Dynalink RTA1025WE modem 4 port.
Following the installation proceedure I'm instructed to Choose a wireless network the screen message tells me -
Quote "No wireless networks were found in range Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on. To see an updated list, click "Refresh network list" I do that and get the same message back.
It appears don't have a wireless driver installed (if that's the way of saying it) It asks me to upload driver from a disk which I don't have.
Can I download a wireless driver from the web and if so how do I do that ?
Re: Dell Inspiron 8600 Wireless connection driver Problem
I would check network connections in your control panel first and make sure your wireless connection is enabled. Next I would go to System in control panel and then go to device manager and check to see if the drive for the wireless is installed. May want to try here for the Driver download.

Try reinstalling the wireless driver. You can download the device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select the Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on this link to download the drivers: - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen
Normally in dell computers the the swicth to tun on wireless is Fn+ F2.. Try this.. If still no go then
You
need to get into device manager.. Unistall the wireless drivers and install a fresh copy from the support website of dell(www.support.dell.com) Restart the computer and then try...
check the laptop right hand side corner on the edge/side of the laptop there is a wireless switch there try to turn it on.
do system restore from the time wireless was still working.
reseat the wireless card. uninstall reinstall the wireless card driver.
replace wireles card.
Some Dell inspiron 8600 doesnt have a built in wireless card only bluetooth. But if you have one, just press Fn+F2 and it will enable your wireless connection. Hope this helps.
Go to support.dell.com enter your tag number for your laptop, download the driver for your wireless card it will probably say Intel Pro Wireless, download the driver install it and see if this remedies the problem. If not the laptop could have a virus, verify your anti virus protection is up to date and perform a scan on the computer to detect it there is a known issue with a virus.
hi,
welcome to fixya.com
yes offcourse ur dell inspiron 5100 laptop support wireless connection, and it will detect the wireless connection in ur computer, uninstall and reinstall the wireless driver and then try and connect to wireless connection, and what u can do is that reset the router and then try and connect to wireless network it will definately connect..and it will also detect the wireless signal also........good luck
Yes, I have pretty much the same setup at home. Wired desktop and wireless laptop. On the back of your wireless router, there should be 4 or 5 wired connections which you can use. You will only have to use the setup disk on one computer. Basically, the setup disk is for the router, not the computers, it simply guides you through the router configuration process. You can also do this manually, the manual for the router will give those instructions as well.
