Have you tried a glare shield, or LCD hood?

A glare shield reduced reflections, whilst an LCD hood folds out and provides "miniature shade" to assist in viewing.

Here's a 2.5" example (for pentax). Generic ones (such as Delkin) are cheaper.

I'm trying to take pictures of rare coins for sale on ebay. Help!!!

If your camera has the capability you will want to take pictures using the macro function on your camera. It has an icon that looks like a flower. It lets you take closeup pictures, which would be helpful for the coins. You will want to place the coins on a plain background with plenty of light shining on the coins from above and also another light from the side. Multiple lights will give your pictures some more depth to the coins. Make sure that the angle that you are taking your pictures doesnt have any glare. Hope that helps!

Close-up picture

I'm not one to know EVERYTHING about cameras, but I do own a Canon Powershot S5IS & the best advice I can give you is.. to put it on 'auto' and since you'd like to show as much detail as possible.. try using the super macro. ( It's on the bottom left side of the camera) it really makes a BIG difference, you see EVERYTHING, point & shoot!

but you have to be close to it, because if not, it won't focus much
& the picture will be blurry.

hope I helped!

Kodak C643 Screen black

One way out of the glare is to use the optical viewfinder (if your camera has one) to preview your image instead of the LCD. Another possibility is to buy a camera that has a backlit LCD.
